PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
DESIGN ENGINEER II 9/2016 – 9/2020
Safran Huntington Beach, CA
Spent 9 years working on variety of increasingly complex design projects at a multinational aircraft engine, aerospace-component and defense company.
•Airbus A350:
New Generation Lavatory - drove the cabinet door module from JDP to drawing release while decreasing cost by over 20%
Virgin Air Lavatories – designed a wingwall cover while ensuring compliance with tight tolerances and available manufacturing methods
•Airbus A220:
Air Canada Aft Monuments - expedited drawing release and design corrections
Air France FWD Wardrobe – led bonded structure and trim installation design from PDR to CDR, controlled new part creation to minimize new part quantity
•COMAC C919:
Cockpit door – performed modifications to comply with ballistics and flammability requirements
Lavatories – designed a CMT cover with a simple unique attachment method at the lowest cost possible
•Irkut MC-21:
Overhead Stowage Compartments – created and got customer approval on a unique solution to increase luggage bucket stiffness while staying within weight targets and complying with stress and closing force requirements; implemented passive lift assist into existing design with virtually no modifications, refined the design and constructed test rigs to pass static tests
Lavatories & Galleys – expedited drawing release to comply and exceed aggressive completion dates
DESIGN ENGINEER I 7/2011 – 9/2016
Safran Santa Maria, CA
•Irkut MC-21:
Door liners, Bustles & Surrounds (PAX, SVC, & Emergency) – created new design definition with limited or missing aircraft structure, presented and received approval form the customer from JDP to CDR stages
Cockpit liners – collaborated with industrial design to create A-surface and preliminary design definition, pushed for timely cockpit liner installation at customer FAL in Irkutsk, Russia under compressed schedule to meet the roll-out date
•Bombardier C-Series
Dado panels: 3D design, 2D drafting and release, decompression/blowout test rig development and construction
Door surrounds (PAX & SVC), Emergency Door Liner (OWEED): Installation drawing release on-site at Bombardier (Canada) in ENOVIA
