• Thesis: ‘Refrigeration insulation using phase change material incorporated polyurethane foam for energy savings’

• Improved energy savings in a 66 66-inch refrigerator by using embedded phase change materials (PCM) incorporated with conventional polyurethane foam (PU) in the insulation

• Determined the optimal location and the melting points of the PCM within the insulation configuration to provide energy savings using 2D model simulation in COMSOL Multi-Physics

• Determined the most suitable PCM-PU configuration resulting in an increase in the compressor off time by a factor of 12 and 40 for freezer and cooler compartments respectively when compared to compressor unit's off time with conventional insulation

• Incorporated double PCM layers with different melting points in the PU insulation resulting in 4 and 14 times higher compressor off times over the conventional insulation in freezer and cooler compartments respectively NASA X HAB February 2020- May 2020

• Graduate research student in NASA X-Hab team at UNT- “Microgravity Gas-Liquid Separator for the CO2 removal system”

• Employed a liquid amine based vortex style separator to better remove CO2 from manned space vehicles and habitats as it consumes 65% less power, weight and volume than solid based CO2 scrubbers thus subsequently maintaining breathable air for astronauts

• Designed a heat exchanger using Solidworks with mathematical proof to analyse failure using knowledge of heat transfer and thermodynamics principles

• Executed a LabView experimental set-up to acquire real time data simultaneously from various sensors

• Utilized ANSYS 15.0 pressure analysis to calculate the factor of safety of the CO2 dehumidifying tank

• Manufactured a CO2 subsystem made of polycarbonate using the industrial mill and drill machines to a maximum tolerance of

0.005 inches
