H. LEWIS TRAFALGAR TIMESHARE 05/1990 – 12/1991
Communications Manager
11 Staff members reported to me. Our department received all the post, queries and complaints. I was the editor of our monthly in-house newsletter and had to arrange the end of year awards banquet for 300 staff from all over the country, plan the dinner, certificates, trophies, prizes and accommodation for about 150 staff members from out of town. I implemented a system whereby debt collectors were contracted to collect outstanding levies.
GAME PREFER CREDIT CARD 1989 - 1990
Credit Control Manager
I oversaw 15 Credit Controllers who had to collect outstanding monthly repayments from customers on their Game credit card. We had targets to achieve, had to report fraudulent transactions and hand customers over to Collection agents who would call on them on our behalf. I had to implement many new systems as it was a new operation and proper systems were not in place. I implemented electronic daily diary system, electronic debit order premium collection, more strict criteria to obtain a credit card as it was mostly marketed to Black African consumers without getting proper credit history or personal information. I predicted that the company would not be able to sustain the credit for so long without being able to collect outstanding debt unless they put drastic measures in place. The MD did not trust my judgment and experience in this field, so I resigned and 6 months later they closed their doors.
