ELIGIBILITY/ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR VACANT SEATS OF
FIRST YEAR BE/BTech PROGRAMME
(Updated on 25-08-2020 regarding eligibility/admission criteria for PCM students) As announced on 09-07-2020, TIET has conducted three rounds of online counselling
(5 Aug, 14 Aug and 24 Aug, 2020) for BE/BTech admissions on the basis of 10+2 PCM score. All the seats have been offered to candidates on the basis of 10+2 PCM merit in the 3rd round of counselling held on 24.08.2020. Hereafter, any vacancy(ies) due to withdrawal(s), shall be filled in next round of counselling on 22.09.2020 (instead of earlier announced date of 15.09.2020) on the basis of JEE Main – 2020 merit. Eligibility:
The candidate
i. has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject*.
ii. has appeared in JEE (Main)-2020.
iii. possesses a good moral character.
iv. is a citizen of India.
v. has passed 10+2 examination in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020. Admission Criteria:
The admission shall be made on the percentile based merit (All India Rank) of JEE Main – 2020.
Note:
1. Fresh applications based on the revised eligibility criteria are also invited. 2. Candidates who have applied already, are not required to fill new form. Their existing application form will be considered based on their JEE-Main-2020 merit. However, if they wish to make any change(s) in their application form e.g. Branch preference order, Updation in Domicile status, Updation in JEE Main-2020 details etc. they can do that by using their login ID and password generated at the time of filling the application form.
3. In case Domicile is selected as ‘Yes’ in the application form, candidate is required to upload the scanned copy of the domicile (Punjab Residency Certificate issued by Govt. of Punjab).
4. Vacant seat status shall be available on the website w.e.f. 02.09.2020. 5. In case JEE(Main)- September 2020 is not being conducted by NTA, then admissions will be done on the basis of 10+2 PCM merit as per the eligibility and admission criteria followed in first three rounds of counselling held on 5 Aug, 14 Aug and 24 Aug, 2020. 6. Vacant seat status shall be available on the website w.e.f. 02.09.2020. 3. Vacant seats available in Punjab quota will be offered to Punjab candidates. Similarly, vacant seats available in Outside Punjab quota will be offered to Outside Punjab candidates. However, after offering all the Punjab quota seats to Punjab candidates, if still there will be any vacant seats, same shall be offered to Outside Punjab candidates and vice-versa.

Candidate wishing to withdraw the seat, must submit the application to IN-CHARGE, ADMISSION CELL, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology. The fee will be refunded after adjusting all the outstanding dues (if any). The candidates are advised to mention their Bank Account Number and IFSC code of the bank for the prompt refund.
