Tasked by the drilling department to fully implement and operate the emergency response plan in the land rig drilling campaign. In Osu-22 well drilling operation located in OML-124 in Imo State, there was a gas-to-surface incident. My professional emergency response training and drilling safety techniques ensured that Addax Petroleum had no fatality, no property damage and all personnel were assembled at their designated muster stations outside the rig location in less than 4mins after the Emergency alarm was triggered. The ERP and weekly drill exercise i.e (abandon drill) was the key to achieving the safety of all 134 personnel on board. On this basis, coupled with other significant supports to drilling operations, I was recommended for re-deployment to the head office in Lagos to work with the Drilling superintendents in charge of other rigs both onshore and offshore as HSE Advisor to Drilling Department. I was assigned to provide HSE support services such as developing ERP for each location, re-drafting each drilling company bridging documents, developed annual HSE plan for the department, organizing drilling contractor’s forum, DWOP (Drilling the Well Optimization Process), TWOP (Technical Well Optimization Process), CWOP (Completing the Well Optimization Process) and HSE-MS contractors’ audits. I have held five different positions in five and a half years service with Addax Petroleum.
