Main project features Charrar Drain Area surrounded by Railway Line leading to India in North, BRBD Canal in East, Cantonment Boards in West and Ring Road in the South. Currently, major issues associated with the drain are; very limited capacity considering the future flows of the contributory area which, in future, will become worst day by day with the urbanization, encroachment resulting in reduction of Right of Way on right and left sides varies from 40 to 70 and 20 to 30 respectively and encroachment width varies from 1 to 37.5 on right side and 1 to 20 on left side, low laying bridges are also a concern which are creating obstructions in uniform flow of the water, low lying localities including BaooWala, Malik Pur, Saijpaal, Alfa Jhugiyan and Gohawa are among the areas which are inundated during rainy seasons. De silting issue i.e. most part of the drain is filled with garbage and solidwaste, a major issue which will hinder improvements of Charrar Drain. The overall objective of preparation of this comprehensive plan to address the increasing issue of sewerage & drainage in the East of Lahore. Implementation of the project will result in improvement in the health conditions and the environment. This broader goal will be achieved through the following specific objectives and activities.

Main project features Quetta is gradually turning into a water scarce city in recent years. Currently, groundwater is the only source of water supply to the residents of Quetta metropolitan. Number of tube wells in the city are around 400. Studies show that the average recharge to the groundwater is 61 million m3/year. While the withdrawal from the installed tube wells is 97 million m3/year. This has resulted in a rapid depletion of groundwater. Groundwater table, in the city is lowering at a rapid rate (1 to 6 m per year). As a consequence the drilling of new tube wells is being undertaken beyond a depth of 300 m in order to reach groundwater. Such deep drills obviously make the situation becoming worse.
