I worked from various capacities in Operation,Technical services, Projects, commissioning, Process safety management, Highly Toxic chemicals management, R&D,Transformation team, Initiated & implemented profit improvement schemes, Technology absorption, development of Technologies and feasibility studies for cyclohexane, Butadiene and MTBE, Butene 1 plants.

3.Procurement of crude oil feedstock and plan for export sale of products. Indicating annual quantities to be tied up with term and strategic suppliers.

4.Economic evaluation using LP modelling to arrive the optimum value realization from various operational scenarios.

5.Contingency planning to take care of disruptions in the refinery operation or in the market.

6.Also heading the Process Engineering section – which involves keeping the units in their highest efficient mode of operation by way of tuning operating conditions, selection of catalysts.

Deputy General Manager (Operations Phase III Project), Project Head

(2013-2015)

1.Handling the project of four units in the Phase III expansion and upgradation project of the refinery. 2.2 million ton per year Petro Chemical Fluid Catalytic Cracking unit (PFCCU) using Stone & Webster technology- which produces polymer grade propylene of 440 ktpa, Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) with Sour Water Stripper and Amine Treatment and Regeneration unit, Hydrogen Generation Unit (HGU) using Haldor Topsoe technology, Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) having SBR, MBR (Kubota membranes Japan), UF and RO sections. The total capital investment of the above project is about $400 million. The process units are critical to the viability of the Phase III project and quite large with respect to scope- over 475000 inch dia welding and about 875000 inch meter erection in PFCCU alone. The responsibility involves overall project management with respect to these projects and reporting to Director (Refinery) of xxx.

2.Coordination with the contractors (for LRCU and SRU projects, for HGU it is L&T and for ETP it is Paramount Ltd.) for execution. Bill invoice certification; follow up for completion of the scope within the agreed target schedule, coordination with various section in the Refinery- Operations, Maintenance for start-up and commissioning. Leading a team of total 300 including client operations, maintenance group and contractor commissioning assistance groups.

3.Overall-in-charge of construction to commissioning of process units-LRCCU, SRU, SWS, ATU, HGU and ETP. At present, all projects have been commissioned. Monitoring of key pre-commissioning and commissioning activities such as heater dry out, alkali boil out, amine degreasing, catalyst loading- both conventional and dense loading as well as LRCCU hopper loading using vacuum.

4.Overall planning of unit pre-commissioning- flushing of utilities lines, process lines, air blowing, steam blowing and commissioning of major equipment like Main air blower, heaters, and wet gas compressor. Monitoring of instrumentation activities like- logic checking, loop checking and DCS FAT.

5.Communication and team building to keep the project group focused. Coordination with technology licensors and process review activities. Contract management. Control of scope, time and cost of the project. Documentation of project activities. Conducting weekly and monthly review meeting for project progress review and reporting to top management.

Chief Manager (Operations Phase III Project)

1)Reporting to Group General Manager (Project, Corporate Planning and Business Development) handling process engineering related activities of LRCCU, SRU and Poly Propylene Unit. The above process engineering functions include the following aspects of the job in coordination with technology licensors:

a)Review of Project Engineering Design Basis, Process and Engineering Scope finalization.

b)P&ID review. HAZOP and HAZAN review. Review of 3D model.

c)Instrumentation logic functional review and FAT.

d)Preparation of Supervisory Operating Manuals.

2)Overall coordination of Pre-feasibility report preparation of poly olefin complex which comprised of pet coke gasification and various polymer productions by naphtha cracking. Various value addition option exploration and selecting economical options for refinery expansion.

3)Preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment and Rapid Risk assessment reports for Poly Propylene Unit. The report was prepared with the help of National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, a leading institute in this field. Preparation of statutory compliance report with respect to environmental clearances from state and national level regulatory bodies.
