UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE

I began service with the Postal Service in Brunswick, GA and then transferred to Poplar, WI and was then moved to Lake Nebagamon, WI. My job was a Rural Mail Carried delivering mail in rural area.

When I began in Brunswick, GA, the mail was extremely heavy and it was not unusual to work from 6:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., sometimes going out to help the other carriers get their mail delivered.

I always made sure that mail went into a closed box and that packages were put in a safe area out of the weather and out of sight of passersby. 7/16/1996 thru 11/8/1996

WAL-MART

My assignment was in the Electronics Departments. I maintained music and games in alphabetical order so they could be found easily. I cashiered both in Electronics and up front as needed.

My best accomplishment there was one Sunday when people were coming in to buy Boom Boxes for Christmas but the pastel Boom Boxes advertised in the Sunday paper were all gone. As I was cashiering, I was thinking about what other items I could offer in place of the advertised Boom Boxes. Then I remembered some Boom Boxes that had been put way up on the top shelve behind a pillar. So, as soon as I got free from cashiering, I got the ladder and started pulling down those Boom Boxes. By the time I got off work we had sold all but five plus all the larger Boom Boxes. That was the largest day they had ever had on a Sunday in Electronics.

8/21/1959 thru 2/28/1990

MOUNTAIN BELL which became U S WEST IN 1984

I began as a clerk in the Directory Delivery Department maintaining records used for delivering telephone directories.

JANICE M. SNYDER

Then I was promoted to Supervisor over the White Pages where the records were compiled from which the White Pages telephone directories were printed. Then after my second child was born in 1969, I went into Telephone Sales where I contacted customers to sell them Yellow Pages advertising. Then I became Supervisor over a team of Telephone Sales people.

In 1973 I was transferred to Denver, CO, to work in the Corporate Offices to write Methods and Training that went out to three divisions. I also worked with the Systems Analysts and Programmers who maintained the systems used to produce the White and Yellow Pages.

I was then promoted to a Second Level Manager where I worked with the people at AT&T on projects where all Baby Bells were represented before the divestiture of the Baby Bells. I produced tracking records to determine the success of our products sold by our sales people. I was also responsible for new products to sell and for pricing those products.

Then I returned to Eastern Division as an Account Manager handling problem accounts cleaning up problems that had occurred with the local sales people and large accounts.

From there I went into National Marketing Services where I handled accounts that needed to advertise in directories throughout the country and with other telephone companies and independent directory publishers. From there in 1990 I was given an opportunity to take a buyout and so I retired.
