Work Experience

Community Event Organizer/Tutor/Teacher, N/A

Tampa

April 2014 - Current

I made money from tutoring and helping the youth around my area. My family does events for the community and helps the young kids grow up safe and secure. We throw community football/basketball games, BBQs, video game tournaments (I got lots of games), Arts (I personally teach kids how to write stories and poetry) and all of this out of our own pocket. This has made our community very family oriented and a way better place than before.

Barnes & Noble Bookseller/Online

Orlando, UCF

Sporadically throughout August 2017 – January 2020

The scheduling at this job was very sporadic and while I worked there, I was trained in using computers and dealing with customers in person, so that Isn’t a problem for me and I was quite liked by the customers from my easygoing and witty personality while at the same time being effective in my roll. I was a Temp worker there for two semesters, then I became a seasonal due to being very efficient in the workplace. However, I was surrounded by books and was frothing at the mouth at the (free) chance to read them. I am an enthusiast of books and comics, so anything abstract or very well crafted is a major plus for me.

Education

University of Central Florida

Bachelors in English Creative Writing track

Aug 2016 - Aug 2020

I am an extremely recent graduate and have worked hard to make sure I have lots of time off while making sure my work is completed and finely tuned. Throughout school I have always been in the top of my class (holding a spot in the top 10 percentile in the state when I was in high school) and have kept a great GPA while in college, even making the Dean’s list during my junior and senior year for my performance in my writing classes. I pride myself in having great grades and work ethic, always finishing things ahead of time and making sure I understand everything I need to. Once my mind is set on something, it's pretty much done. This is primarily why I was on a full ride scholarship to UCF in the first place.

It was also needed to take classes in a variety of writing subjects for my major. I have taken all variations of the regular and advanced writing workshops of: Fiction, Nonfiction, Script Writing, and Poetry. I have also written scripts for the Orlando film festival, which my friend entered last minute. I got to work and created a 2 films with him, one a year ago and another a couple months before that, the 1st one was the best comedy/horror film that won us the prize, and the other one got top 16 in the festival, and in both projects we only had 2 days to write, record and edit. So, imagine what I can do with actual time to cultivate ideas.

I have also taken a class at UCF called “writing for video games” and I loved it, probably my favorite class next to my Advanced Fiction Workshop. I have always loved video games and narrative structure of the classics and underground games from past to old. To this day I am a proud “nerd”, if you want to call it that, of comic books/manga/video games/movies, whatever entertainment medium. I have either watched it thoroughly, having sat down and watched numerous breakdowns and narrative techniques used in said media, or have heard about it and plan to watch it.

Skills

Communication – I talk a lot and try to be easygoing while doing my work as effective as possible. This is my most powerful skill as I am a very talkative person and I try to make things go smoothly.

Charismatic – I can deal with any type of person, as I have dealt with people from different age groups like children to angry college kids and teachers.

Organized – I keep things I need in arms reach and I always make sure things are where they are supposed to be.

Quick Wit – I can maneuver through a conversation with ease while maintaining composure and quickly finding solutions.

Teamwork – I am a great team player; I try to keep everyone focused while completing my task at hand. I help where there needs to be help, and if I don’t know what to do, I’ll find someone who does.

Adaption – Whenever something goes awry, I can mold myself into it seamlessly. Sudden changes in the way the workplace does things are not a problem for me.

Listening – I make sure that I understand everything going on, and usually right down notes of important stuff I hear or that might be useful. I also am a writing major that writes stories and such on demand so quickly typing and relaying is a no-brainer for me.

Behaviors

I’m very enthusiastic about things, I have lots of energy, so to counter that I constantly have something in my hands, usually a pen that I flip, or I start writing in my notebook that I bring with me. I try to bring new ideas and such to any workplace I’ve been in and just lighten the mood for everyone. Places feel so empty nowadays, so I try to be much more attentive and understanding of peoples plights and problems, while trying to cheer people up. Things can get annoying for me, I will admit, but I shake it off and work through it to finish what needs to be done. If writing is involved, I am extremely excited and is known by my teachers in my writing classes to be extremely passionate and present for things that’re good and/or need work to reach up to par status.

Licenses and Certifications

I became certified in Microsoft office PowerPoint back in 2016 and will be getting my word certification as well very soon.

Work Availability

Since I’m a graduate my schedule is very open. If possible, I would like to work up to 40 hrs a week. I have a car so getting to work isn’t a problem, and I can work whenever my schedule is severely open.
