I am scheduled to graduate in May **** with a Bachelor of Mechancial Engineering [Honours] from the University of Limerick, Ireland. I am a US citizen and have previously worked in the US, Ireland and UK. I have 8 months engineering experience working as part of a design team and as a site engineer. I am highly proficient at using Solidworks, AutoCAD, Abaqus, MATLAB and the full suite of Microsoft Office. I enjoy the chance to challenge myself and gain experience from new opportunities. Other work experience includes many years bartending, developing strong people skills and construction work learning valuable technical skills and work ethic. I am eager to begin my professional career and seeking a graduate or entry level engineering job from May onwards.

ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE

Coffeys Construction LTD May 2017 – Dec 2017

Student Engineer Liverpool & Chester, UK.

As part of my degree I completed 8 month placement in the UK working as a member of the design team in the St.Helen’s office and worked on site as assistant engineer in Chester.

Developed and designed processes for water & wastewater treatment plants.

Prepared AutoCAD drawings of plant layouts and Process Flow Diagrams.

Involved in the preparation of tenders for construction contracts across the UK and Ireland.

Sourced and ordered required machinery, equipment and materials for jobs.

Liaised with suppliers on an ongoing basis.

Created and implemented new systems for the company such as a vendor database, Hydraulic calculation software and online shared drive.

Produced technical documents as required.

Delivered presentations effectively and efficiently

Recorded site costs, materials and allocations.

Installed and commissioned machinery onsite

Solidworks

Completed many projects on Solidworks throughout high school and college. Modelled assemblies with many moving parts such as a steam turbine. Preformed dynamic studies on airplane wings to find their vibrational nodes. Created physical models from Solidworks using CNC laser cutter. Produced technical drawings, parts lists and bills of materials from models.

Microsoft Office

Received ECDL cert after completing training in MS Excel. Utilized throughout college to compile data neatly and produce simple calculations or graphs. During placement I created a spreadsheet to produce hydraulic calculations for others to use. I frequently used Excel for administrative duties such as logging site cost. Delivered many PowerPoint presentations and was recognized for my communication skills.

MATLAB

Received training in first semester in college. Used later for performing advanced calculations, running simulations and producing graphs.

AutoCAD

Used on placement to read plant layouts and construction plans. Produced Process Flow Diagrams and technical drawings for design tender.

Abaqus

Capable of modelling and performing Finite Element Analysis on complex structures. Modeled and conducted stress analysis on a jet ski trailer to determine high stress locations and improved the design
