Work experience with regards to process instrumentation and control I have experience in the following types of environments:

• Pressure:

• Flow:

• Temperature:

I have worked with the instruments stated above on many projects, installations of new systems, upgrades of older systems and maintenance of instrumentation. Sales and Scoping:

As part of managing the projects I was given opportunities to attend the site visits, and spec the correct instrument/s for the job (process connections, material compatibility, temperature limitations, pressure limitations, IP ratings etc.) Being able to spec products I have experience to both internal sales and customer visits to demo and trial new products.

Projects:

Below is a list of some of the major projects I have been involved in and managed (Completed):

• Instrumentation for a replacement pump station (Mahatma Gandhi). Supply, installation and commissioning of level sensors, controllers, pressure transmitters and flow meters.

• Upgrade of a treatment works (Central works). Construction of pressure transmitter brackets, Installation and commissioning of Level controllers, pressure sensors and area velocity flow meters.

• Reactor automation at a resin production company. From design to final commissioning involving temperature sensors, controllers, PLC, pneumatic actuators and control valves.

(KZN resins).

• Wireless level control system for security purposes designed for an alarm status at high overflow levels. This project involved level controllers, wireless transmitters, receivers and a PLC. (Toyota Prospecton).

• Rand water Zuikerbosch – implementation of new poly dosing plant. This project included pumps, pressure sensors, flow, level… (Other instruments, switchgear and PLC control).

• Implementation of a HVAC control system for temperature control in Theatre operating rooms. Work includes control loops, temperature probes, transmitters, controllers and smart relays. (Medi clinic Tongaat).

• Installation of full pressure control system for the Bag house area. From design to final commissioning involving pressure transmitters and PLC control. (Assmang Manganese)

• Design and implementation of electrical, earthing and lightning protection modification to all 14 reservoirs across Lesotho. Consisting of installation of flow meters with grounding ring, level sensors, earth piping and cathodic protection. (UNIK)

• Umgeni Water AVFM. Installation of Area velocity flow meters at the outlet of the major dams and inlet to the water works. Also includes open channel measurement and level control.

• Umgeni Water (Durban Heights) Turbidity and level. Design and install 65 turbidity control systems for each filter to determine the NTU of the water entering the reservoir.

• Pump station upgrade including PLC panel, PLC hardware, instrumentation and condition monitoring equipment replacement. (Umgeni water Wiggins Highlift, KwaDaBeka and Hazelmere Pump stations)

Managing Projects has become one of my strengths with regards to time management, pricing, purchasing of goods, documentation and service to the client after completion. Siemens products are my greatest advantage but I use the concept of the instrument /unit and apply that across the board for other brands of devices that I use to complete all projects.
