2. Principles accountabilities – key responsibilities

Directs the resources and activities of the Division to support the HSE programs by providing Advice and guidance to the Company Senior Management.

Continually maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge, and preparedness across the Division to create a culture that prioritizes effective HSE and balances overall associated costs.

Review internal SHE policies and practices to ensure they are current and appropriate; conduct Hazard and risk assessments and change existing or develop new recommendations from these Assessments.

Serve as the Division expert within the field of SHE when called upon to address regulatory agency compliance issues, third party safety & liability consultants and subcontractor representatives

Responsible for the staffing and directing the Divisions SHE Department, including the management of all staff

Responsible for the development of an annual budget recommendations and implementation.

Provide regular written reports, as well as other production-related results and updates to the Senior Management Team

The SHE Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, communication and coordination of all environmental, health, and safety programs for the operation. This position is developed and provides technical and administrative direction on all SHE decisions, which bear critical importance to overall Division objectives, operations, and profitability in accordance to the Mine Health and Safety Act. Works to insure a safe workplace for all employees. Assists employees, supervisors and managers with daily safety concerns. Develops and monitors safety practices at the mine. Assists in the development and implementation of an on- going safety and health program. Reports unsafe conditions and makes recommendations for correction. Investigates and maintains records of accidents as required by law. Conducts or ensures that all MSHA required training is conducted to reduce time loss and accident.
