Application for the position of Avionics Insstructor

A highly motivated qualified educational professional and curriculum developer with 26 years of extensive experience (15 years in Middle East) in both academic and vocational areas, having previously worked as Programme and Curriculum Leader for The Higher Education provision at Liverpool City College. I was also involved in the development and review of e-learning materials with Britannica Digital Learning for the Ministry of Egypt. I started my teaching career at Blackburn College in Built Environment, where I taught Environmental and Construction Science (Building Physics), Building Law, Tendering and Estimating, Structures, Contract administration and Economics of the Construction industry. I helped to pioneer the e-learning Engineering courses which helped to fast track military personnel for HNC courses, having written e-learning modules for Learn Direct. I have held positions of responsibility as Head of Maths at the British Aerospace Facility (teaching both maths and physics) and I was also the course leader for the HNC Professional Engineering Programme. My teaching career has involved mainly STEM subjects. During my time at The King Faisal Air Academy I held a pivotal role as the examinations coordinator which involved managing the infrastructure for the e-testing including the role of Avionics Instructor. In my last KSA job at ITQAN as Lead Technical Civil Engineering Instructor I was helping to set up the new bespoke curriculum. I have extensive knowledge at college level in Mechanical and Electrical engineering, Civil Engineering, Avionics and Aero Science, Maths, Physics and Chemistry, including welding and motor vehicle engineering. These are all subjects I have taught including English where I hold both technical training PGCE and English Language CELTA. Duties included assessing and helping to moderate exams / assessment for external moderation. This also included writing e-learning packages for the National and Higher National Diploma courses in the Vocational Engineering Programme. This project is still running successfully at Blackburn College after 20 years.

I gained a vast amount of experience at Blackburn College through classroom teaching and curriculum development. I was involved with two FEFC inspections and one HEFC inspections and my lessons were graded as 1 – outstanding.

My responsibilities included writing course books for HNC Environmental Science.

Blackburn College was heavily involved with e-learning when it was a pilot scheme with Learn Direct. I prepared the Business and Management Techniques Learn Direct module for e-learning and I was responsible for mentoring and tutoring 64 international students before leaving the college in 2001. We were also able to fast track students via Accreditation of Prior Learning.
