Women’s Health and Aesthetic Center was a clinic that specialized in obstetric and gynecological services.

Practice Administrator

Managed all aspects of OB/GYN and aesthetic practice. Duties included all accounting functions as well as provider recruitment and credentialing, negotiation of vendor contracts, coordinating physician and nurse midwife credentialing, staff training / development, and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and ICD9 coding.

Successfully converted the practice management system from a Unix-based system to a Windows-based system, including the addition of an EMR system. There is a normal implementation period of 90 days, but it was completed in 30 days to accommodate a practice merger.

Identified inefficiencies in billing protocols that had created a net operating loss in 2003. New billing procedures created an increase in revenue, allowing for retirement of office build out loan at the end of the first year and the first retirement plan contribution in four years.

Discovered incorrect administration of capitation contract that resulted in a 60% underpayment for each OB patient by a major insurance carrier. Met with the CFO and CEO of the facility to negotiate a resolution.

April 1996 – August 2002 Women’s Medical Center Fayetteville, Georgia

Medical Practice Administrator

Led medical practice with 50 employees. Provided leadership during a period of rapid growth from a three-provider practice to a nine-provider practice and the addition of a 5K SF satellite office.

In second week of employment, discovered major flaw in original setup of PMS, resulting in a $42K payment that would have gone unrealized from a third-party administrator that was closing out bankruptcy proceedings.

Implemented and upgraded all technical areas of the practice including phone system installation and upgrades, practice management system expansion and upgrade, set up of office wide intranet, utilizing a T-1 voice and data connection. Recruited physicians and nurse midwifes, as well as office staff.

Oversaw day-to-day practice operations, direct oversight of the business office, production of monthly financial and utilization reports, administration of physician compensation plan. Responsible for all practice accounting functions including production of year-end Profit & Loss statement and Balance Sheet for CPA review and tax preparation. Administered 401(k) and profit-sharing plan.

Oversaw build out of new 5K SF office at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. Project included working with architect in space design, interior designer, constant interaction with the General Contractor to ensure accuracy in implementation of all instructions. Focus was placed on computer connectivity, appropriate pre-wiring, as well as seamless telecommunications between offices. Project was completed on time and without major incident.

In final year of employment, the three FTE OB/GYN’s were achieving compensation well above MGMA benchmarks. Physician salaries were approximately 35% higher than physicians of same specialty and like demographic. This was the result of the practice exceeding MGMA benchmarks in multiple areas.

Selected by Senior Vice President of Sales at Medical Manager SE as a “Star Site” to provide site demonstrations for potential clients in a Tri-state area.
