Perform SAFE CARE exams which consist of a complete physical exam on children who may have been sexually and/or physically abused. May include collection of forensic evidence and documentation of injuries as well as using the colposcope to aid in that process.
Provide effective communication to the parents and multidisciplinary team which includes law enforcement, forensic interviewers, advocates, children’s division and attorneys.
Participate in monthly PEER review with fellow SAFE CARE providers.
Doctors Urgent Care - West Plains, Missouri: April 2009 to July 2013
Provided Primary and immediate care to all age groups at this rural health care clinic.
Care included chronic disease processes, women’s health, healthy exams and minor office surgeries.
Worked independently most of the time.
PEER review with supervising physician bi-monthly.
Supervised nursing and office staff.
Southern Missouri Community Health Center – West Plains, Missouri: December 2005 to April 2009
Provided Primary care at this Federally Qualified Health Center to all ages of patients.
Provided Primary care at a newly initiated satellite center in Thayer, Missouri.
Instrumental in developing templates for the electronic medical record and was a leader in transitioning to the electronic medical record from paper charting.
Doctors Urgent Care – West Plains, Missouri: February 2004 to May 2005
Provided Primary Care and immediate care to all age groups of patients.
Supervised nursing staff and office staff.
Ozarks Medical Center – West Plains, Missouri: January 1997 to April 2002
Provided Primary Care to families in the rural health care clinics.
Provided relief for providers in the Urgent Care Clinic.
Developed the Safe Center. This was located within a clinic at OMC. Specifically for SAFE CARE exams to be performed so children would not have to drive two hours to the nearest Child Advocacy Center. Complete head to toe examination was given with collection of forensic evidence if needed. Adult sexual and physical assault victims were also seen at the Safe Center for exams and collection of evidence. I was the Safe Center Coordinator and conducted the exams.
Testified within the court system as requested.
Oregon County Health Department – Alton, Missouri: November 1997 to August 2002
Provided Well Women exams which included pap smears to screen for cervical cancer and performed breast exams screening for breast cancer.
Educated and prescribed birth control for women of child bearing age.
Mercy Hospital – Independence, Kansas: January 1995 to November 1996
Staff RN in obstetrics which included labor, delivery, nursery, and antepartum care.
PRN Night Supervisor included management of nursing staff for the 80 bed rural hospital.
