Working as a consultant/controls engineer for several different
companies in the Phoenix area. The hardware included (but was not limited to) Allen-Bradley PLCs, Allen-Bradley Factory Talk View, Automation Direct HMIs, Maple Systems HMIs, MDS, TP-LINK, and Radwin radios. I also worked on control panel design
and panel fabrication.
Jan 2014 – Apr 2017 Private Contractor
Working mainly in Yuma for a private company with three waste
water facilities, one water treatment plant and multiple lift stations and remote sites. Provide programming expertise on Allen-Bradley and GE PLCs and HMIs. Develop, startup and maintain iFix Scada applications at four different sites.
Responsible for designing and fabricating control system panels to
upgrade old control systems. Install and maintain all Topview alarm callout software and radio system communications for Scada applications.
Working with local aluminum extrusion facility to maintain their
Allen-Bradley PLC-5s and reprogram when necessary.
Dec 2014 – May 2015 Heliae (contract)
Worked on PLCs and Scada for various projects including GP1 chillers and boilers, harvest system, and Amp system. Performed troubleshooting on various applications.
Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 EMA (contract)
Worked on PIMA County System Platform and PLC applications. Redesigned PIMA County conveyance pump station and odor control sites for upgrade to CompactLogix PLC.
Apr 2012 – Dec 2012 Private Contractor
Worked as contract control systems engineer. Developed MS Excel report application for MI Metals in Prescott Valley, AZ. Completed integration/automation of waste water facility in Yuma, AZ for Quantum (a systems integrator based in Tempe, AZ).
Aug 2006 – Mar 2012 Percwater
Responsible for control systems programming, integration, start-up, service, and training for all Percwater wastewater treatment facilities. All facilities used either AB ControlLogix or CompactLogix PLCs integrated with Wonderware System Platform front end (SCADA) as well as OEM equipment used for Sludge handling, RO systems, remote lift stations, filtration systems, and others. The following facilities were new start-ups: SPA2, SPA3, WHETSTONE, REDROCK, MOUNTAIN HOUSE, SUNDANCE (PHASE I & II), TARTESSO, GRIZZLY RANCH, AND FOUR CORNERS.
Jan 1999 – Jul 2006 Intecon
Vice President of Engineering and co-owner of Intecon, a Tempe based systems integrator. Some of the more relevant projects are listed below:
(City of Peoria – Beardsley Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion)
Project manager for the I&C portion of this project. The scope consisted of an Intellution SCADA Upgrade, control panel fabrication, various instrumental configurations, VFD configuration, modification of existing control panels, and creating O&M manuals.
(Qunitero Country Club and Golf Course – Instrumentation and Controls
Design)
Responsible for instrumentation and control design of the new Water Treatment Nanofiltration Facility. I oversaw creation of P&ID drawings, instrumentation specifications, and performed control panel design.
(City of Avondale – Master SCADA System – Coldwater Springs)
Responsible for the programming and implementation of a Wonderware master SCADA system at Avondale’s Coldwater Springs Booster Station. The system integrated various remote sites using Modicon PLC’s. MDS radios, and Wonderware InTouch Systems.
Southern Cal Edison – Boiler Operations Startup & Integration
Project engineer in charge of integrating communications for power generation at the Huntington Beach Power Station. In charge of interpreting and writing code and all communications between a Moore DCS system and the field equipment including a vibration monitoring system, turbine control, power current monitor, polisher and demineralizer, and Siemens switchgear. The Moore DCS system replaced a Bailey DCS system and communicated in function block, ladder logic and structured text with Allen Bradley 5/04 processors.
As Vice President of Engineering, managed a UL-508A panel shop with 6 employees and assisted in design, testing, and integration of control systems for various clients.
Jan 1995 – Dec 1998 RME (Red Mountain Engineering)
Owner of Red Mountain Engineering. Worked for several clients including Ross Labs, Motorola, and Stone Container Paper Mill as systems integration consultant. At Ross Labs in Casa Grande, assisted in FDA Validation and Traceability procedures integrating Allen-Bradley and Intellution. Developed and improved skills in Allen-Bradley, Modicon, Intellution, Wonderware, and radio communication systems, database design, network design, operator interfaces, instrumentation, and field devices. Acquired experience in chemical delivery, water/wastewater systems, pharmaceutical handling systems, automated assembly systems, bottling systems, and project management.

Worked for Tucson based systems integrator on automated air bag assembly line for TRW in Mesa, AZ, using Allen-Bradley Pyramid Integrator PLC.
Jan 1987 – Jan 1993 Allen – Bradley
Worked as a Systems Application engineer in Los Angeles and Phoenix branches. Responsible for integrating and troubleshooting various Allen-Bradley products including industrial computers, programmable logic controllers (PLC-2, PLC-3 and PLC-5), and variable frequency drives. Special application training included UNIX operating system for VISTA SCADA systems and VMS (DEC) operating systems for Pyramid Integrator line of products.
