Basrah Gas Company is a 25-year incorporated joint venture between Iraq’s South Gas Company, Shell and Mitsubishi Corporation. The joint venture captures associated gas that is currently being flared from three oil fields in southern Iraq – Rumaila, West Qurna and Zubair. South Gas Company, operations is a gas project in Iraq’s history and the world’s largest flares reduction project.

While working in BGC, my role and responsibilities are:

•Working as part of development team to carry out all activities upto concept select, including, opportunity realization, opportunity framing, feasibility and concept select.

Lead Process Engineer - (ARAMCO Projects) Feb- 2017 – Mar 2018

WorleyParsons delivers projects, provides expertise in engineering, procurement and construction and offers a wide range of consulting and advisory services. WorleyParsons cover the full lifecycle, from creating new assets to sustaining and enhancing operating assets, in the hydrocarbons, mineral, metals, chemicals and infrastructure sectors.

Haradh & Hawiyah Field Gas Compression - ARAMCO

The intention of the project is to extend the life of the Haradh & Hawiyah field up to 20 years by reducing the operating pressure of pipeline network from ~ 1000 psig up to 300 psig. The gas from these fields is fed to Haradh Gas Plant and Hawiyah Gas Plant, up to combined capacity of 2.2 BSCFD (Billion Standard Cufic Feet per Day). Project involves, ~900 wells, off plot tie-ins, flowline installations, Remote Header modifications, trunkline modifications, gas gathering facility modifications, interfaces with new compressor plants (9) and liquid separator stations (6) and finally modifications at Hawiyah Gas Plant and Haradh Gas Plant including the adequacy checks of gas and liquid system.

Lead the project from FEED stage up to detailed design. Currently project is in IFC issuance stage.

Responsibilities in the project:

•Lead a team of 24 process engineers and 16 designers located at two different offices (alkhobar and Mumbai)

•Worked on field pipeline network hydraulics – steady state (PIPESIM) and Dynamics (OLGA).

•Supervised / reviewed project drawings (PFD / P&IDs) up to ~ 3000

•Developed and reviewed multiple technical / project reports i.e. Basis of Design, Operating & Control, Process Description, Pre-commissioning and commissioning, etc.

•Participated in safety studies i.e. HAZOP / HAZID and different safety review sessions.

•Attended multiple safety review sessions with clients (ARAMCO)

•Developed pipeline network system safety and relief system scheme.

•Design interfaces with (9) compressor plants and (6) liquid separator stations

•Carried out adequacy check of Haradh Gas Plant – gas and liquid system

•Reviewed Corrosion Management Program document and ensured it is aligned with the Client’s requirement

Achievements / Highlights:

•Developed well / flowline split scheme at the Remote Headers that results in avoidance of un-even split flows in the trunk lines and saved ~ 30 million riyals in internally cladded pipes and valves.

•Proposed (and it’s approved by ARAMCO) to replace the permanent liquid scraper traps with temporary arrangement – results in saving up to ~ 48 million riyals.

•Developed system design conditions starting from well heads up to the gas plants with maximizing on the existing facilities.

Daleel Petroleum is an operator of Block-5 in sultanate of Oman. My responsibilities while in Daleel Petroleum were:

•Supervise the operations of existing LPG extraction Train.

•Manage the Process Design of New LPG extraction Train-Plant being provided by Exterran on BOO basis

•Perform duties of a Sr. Project Engineer for the New LPG Extraction Train.

•Reviewed the process design of the plant

•Ensured associated projects completion on time

•Coordinated with multiple projects to ensure success of the complete program that includes total 6 projects.

Sr. Process / Concept Select Engineer April 2013 –July-2016

While in BGC worked on following activities / projects working as Field Development Engineer:

•Developing plans for the full field.

•Working as PMO / PMC on different project / supervising contractors work.

•Primarily working as in house design engineer carrying as a part of “Quick Win Team”. The team’s essential purpose is to engineer the quick projects i.e. cross-overs, compressor rehabilitation, system adequacy check, etc.

While in BGC, worked as concept select / Lead engineer and PMO / PMC on following projects:

Majnoon Gas Integration (tie-in) project (from Concept to Detailed engineering): Lead the team of 4 process engineers (performing as Lead Process Engineer). The project includes tapping off gas from Majnoon facility and being delivered to NR NGL plant and KAZ NGL plant.

Low Pressure Network project (from Concept to Detailed engineering): Project includes integration of multiple compressor stations and wellhead degassing stations to optimize the gas capture that is being flared at different degassing stations. Core activities were system hydraulics, compressor adequacy checks and flare and relief system checks.

North Rumaila NGL plant Booster Compressors (from Concept to Detailed engineering): NR NGL plant is fed through a set of booster compressors running in parallel. The intention of this project to revise the operating configuration of booster compressors at from parallel to series so that low pressure gas can be captured

New Compressor Stations FEED: This involves project support for installation of new compressors (at existing compressor stations) and their integration with existing system.

North Rumaila NGL Plant debottlenecking (Concept to Detailed Engineering): The project involves complete adequacy check of existing NR NGL plant, identification of bottlenecks and proposal for short term and long term solutions for debottlenecking. Core activities were to coordinate with site operations and gather actual operating data, developed the simulation model to match the original design and current operation which is further used for bottleneck identifications. Short term and long term solutions were proposed for the identified bottlenecks.

NR NGL Liquid Handling System Adequacy / Debottlenecking: The intention of the project was to carry out required modifications to recover / receive the liquid from different source and further stabilize it at NR NGL using existing system.

DEM-2 analysis: I have carried out DEM-2 (design and engineering manual) analysis for multiple facilities i.e. compressor stations, gas receiving facilities, flare and relief system, gas dehydration units.

DEM-1 gap analysis: I have carried out DEM-1 Gas Analysis for Power Plant (engineered by ABB). This includes reviewing the design against DEM-1 requirements and subsequently identifying any deviation / non-compliance.

TEG Dehydration units: Simulated and carried out system capacity checks for multiple Gas dehydration units.

Bottlenecking of Degassing stations: Simulated and carried out system capacity checks for multiple wellhead degassing stations.

Umm Shaif Oil Network Expansion Project - FEED: Off Shore

Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO) aims to sustain Umm Shaif Field annual average production of 275 MBD for that assurance is required that Umm Shaif existing infield oil gathering network is adequate to sustain this oil production target. The project consists of three new radials, five new infield pipelines, one manifold tower, one riser platform and modification to 8 existing wellhead towers. Worked / took part in following activities:

•Performed PIPESIM steady state simulation of complete USSC network including new pipelines / radials and existing pipelines. Optimization and finalization of new pipelines sizes considering operating envelop from year 2016 till 2034.

•Determined the topside pipe sizes of WHTs using hydraulic simulation.

•Developed P&IDs & PFDs and performed / reviewed different calculations i.e. PSV sizing / equipment sizing / pump sizing etc.

•Reports writing i.e. Process Basis of Design, Process Description, Hydraulic report etc.

•Took part in studies; HAZOP, SIL, etc

ADMA OPCO 100 MBSPD Project - Detailed Engineering: Offshore

Worley Parsons is awarded a Detailed Engineering Project to modify existing Zakum West Super Complex (ZWSC) facility to handle additional 100 MSTBPD crude from Thamama IV & Thamam. The project involves the modifications on ADMA OPCO’s one of the strategic offshore platform called ZWSC (Zakhum West Super Complex). As a senior process engineer I performed following activities:

•Performed HYSYS steady state simulation for the entire network and FLARENET for relief system modelling.

•Performed PIPESIM hydraulic simulation which involves 5 subsea pipelines.

•Performed line sizing / control valve sizing / PSV sizing / equipment sizing calculations.

•Prepared the data sheet of DELIQUIDISER (new online liquid separating technology) and evaluated the vendor offers.

•Developed the operating and control philosophy document.

•Took part and reviewed HYSYS DYNAMIC SIMULATION, which has been carried out to confirm the operating and control philosophy.

•Reports writing i.e. Design Basis, Simulation Report, Hydraulic Report etc.

•Prepared PFDs, P&IDs and Heat and Material Balance.

•Took part in Outage Optimization Study, HAZOP & SIL.

ZADCO Mixed Mode Gas Project (Concept / FEED) : Offshore

ZADCO has appointed WorleyParsons as an engineering contractor to carry out the FEED of a project called ZADCO Mixed Gas Handling Project. The objective of the project was to propose the necessary modifications and investigate the changes required on ADMA OPCO’s Zakhum West Super Complex due to the changes in ZADCO gas composition.

•Performed steady state HYSYS & PIPESIME simulations and prepared Heat and Material Balance.

•Performed line sizing / control valve sizing / equipment adequacy check calculations.

•Prepared the data sheet of DELIQUIDISER (new online liquid separating technology).

Process Engineer July 2008 – June 2010

GASCO Hydrocarbon Acid Gas Flare Recovery Project (Concept / FEED): Onshore

GASCO (Abu Dhabi Gas Company) awarded WorleyParsons, the FEED the project called “Hydrocarbon Acid Gas Recovery Project”. This was an environment driven project and aim was to reduce the acid gas flare venting to “Zero Flaring” as per GASCO’s environment standards. Project comprises of a set of compressors, knock out drums, air coolers and pump etc.

•Performed site visits and collected data to have a head start.

•Performed HYSYS simulations.

•Developed PFDs, P&IDs and generated Heat and Material Balance.

•Extensively used FlareNet to check the back pressure on existing instruments / equipments due to additional facilities.

•Carried out the gas recovery compressor selection study. Acid gas flare being operated at very low pressure therefore gas recovery compressor selection is the most critical activity of the project.

•Took part in HAZOP & SIL Study.

ADMA OPCO 100 MBSPD Project (FEED) : Offshore

Worley Parsons is awarded a FEED to modify existing Zakum West Super Complex (ZWSC) facility to handle additional 100 MSTBPD crude from Thamama IV & Thamama V.

•Performed simulation of ZWSC platform using HYSYS and carried out gas / oil pipeline hydraulics using PIPESIM.

•Pump sizing, Line / Relief Valve / Control Valve sizing and prepared calculation dossier

•Report writing and miscellaneous data sheet preparation.

•Developed the PFD & P&ID and Heat and Mass balance.

BANA GAS Well Head Compression (FEED) : Onshore

Bahrain National Gas Company (BANAGAS) has appointed WorleyParsons (WP) to initiate a pipeline network evaluation and compression study to identify bottlenecks and suggest additional facilities to accommodate a planned increase in throughput at the BANAGAS facilities from the current operating capacity of 300 MMSCFD to 525 MMSCFD, and design capacity of 530 MMSCFD by 2020.

•Developed PFD & P&ID and Prepared Heat & Material Balance

•Developed the Relief system model using FLARENET for adequacy check.

•Carried out different calculations for line sizing, control valve sizing, pump sizing etc

DOLPHIN ENERGY GAS PIPELINE (Detailed Engineering) : Onshore / Offshore

Dolphin Energy Ltd. is undertaking the Taweelah Fujairah Pipeline project (TFP) to deliver natural gas from its existing Taweelah Receiving Facility (TRF) to Fujairah, both in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The TFP project intent is to provide an additional 48 inch pipeline from TRF to the FRS (Fujairah Receiving Station) in order to supply upto additional 1.6 BSCFD of natural gas to serve the immediate and future gas requirements.
