Kaiser Permanente of Northern California
• Led and successfully passed three triennial National Commission on Quality Assurance
(NCQA) and Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) Surveys; annual Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and Medical Managed Care Plan Partner Surveys.
• Co-Chaired the Resource Management Committee (RMC) for 13 years; a subcommittee of the Quality Oversight Committee (QOC) and Board of Northern California.
• Voting Member of the Region-wide Member Concerns Committee.
• Expert interpreter of regulatory and accreditation standards. Developed excellent rapport with auditors/surveyors and corrective action plans (CAPs) are accepted on initial submissions.
• Expanded the UM Department from 7 FTEs to 30 FTEs.
• Deployed to KP Southern California to participate in their NCQA Mock Survey in Feb. 2013.
• Achieved Medicare 4-Star rating on the Special Needs Program (SNP) Care Management Measures since 2012.
• Updated annually the following to comply with the annual NCQA, DMHC, DHCS, and CMS requirements.
• Maintained a Policy & Procedure (P&Ps) database of 38 P&Ps using PolicyTech.
• Administered the Practitioner Satisfaction Survey and developed action plans on opportunities for improvement.

Sutter Health
• Member of Achieving Continuous Excellence (ACE) Team and participated in TJC Mock Surveys throughout the Sutter System.
• Deployed to Sutter Solano to conduct a mock survey while under CMS immediate jeopardy.
• Involved in the eICU roll-out in February 2006.
• Co-chaired the Hospital’s Electronic Health Record (eHR) Committee; participated in the System-wide eHR initiative.
• Facilitated the transition of Gambro Dialysis Services to DaVita, Inc. in 2005.
• Co-delivered a formal presentation on a newly developed Access policy & procedure system to MicroSoft at the Mountain View Lab in 2005; MicroSoft expressed interest in partnering.
• Guest speaker at a BRN program dinner to Legal Nurse Consultants in Sacramento on April 21, 2004 entitled: “Hospital Risk Management and Physician Credentialing, including the Impact of HIPAA on Hospital Operations”.
• Endorsed and rolled out the Bridge Medical barcode scanning device that was later called eMAR (e-Medication Administration Record) in September 2003; first Affiliate within Sutter to go-live on all Nursing Units.
• Converted an outsourced contract - National Rehab Partners Rehab Services to an internal hospital department and transitioned Sutter Tracy Community Hospital (STCH) Home Health & Hospice to Sutter VNA & Hospice in Tracy in March 2003.
• Graduated from Managing Clinical Excellence (MCE) course in Lafayette, CA in May 2002 on principles of Quality Improvement and Rapid Cycle Improvement.
• Successfully directed 10 TJC-CALS Survey processes and annual unannounced DHS and Medicare Conditions of Participation (COP) Surveys for two Skilled Nursing Facilities and one Home Care Agency resulting in few to no RFI’s or deficiencies.
• Effectively developed and implemented a Hardwiring Quality Initiative to provide one standard of care across all levels of the continuum consistent with TJC, CMS, and DHS standards.
• Chairperson of the Patient Care Executive Group (PCEG) for two consecutive years; core member of the PCEG for 10 years. Authored the Final PCEG Functional Chapter of the Strategic Plan.

• Recruited 40 foreign nurses from the Philippines in July 1999 for two Sutter Hospitals.
• Negotiated a contract with Gambro Dialysis Services and implemented a new inpatient dialysis program at STCH in 1997.
Sharp Healthcare
• Successfully integrated two medical campuses with 1600 FTE’s and multiple shared governance councils/committee project serving each as Chairperson reporting to the Vice President of the Clinical Services. These included but are not limited to: Nursing Policy and Procedure Council, Nursing Professional Practice Council, Nursing Education Council, Career Advancement Program, Nursing Pay and Benefits, recruitment and retention compensation program efforts, Model-Based Practice Task Force, Schools of Nursing, BRN process, etc.
• Successfully relocated and transported 46 subacute rehab patients with ventilators, oxygen and IVs to another medical campus 20 miles away, and expanded the subacute rehab program from 28 to 79 beds on said campus.
• Developed/implemented a Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) based in the ED.
• Developed/implemented a 10-bed Direct Observation Unit (non-telemetry/step-down) on the Telemetry Unit as part of the Critical Care Department.
• Rolled out the Nurse-Physician Collaborative Program Learning Series with excellent reviews.
• Instructor of a neurological critical care and a hemodynamic series in critical care as the Critical Care Manager.

• Featured in an article on Patient Safety in the Spring 2007 edition of the Silicon Valley Health Source magazine.
• Co-authored and co-created with VP of Human Resources ‘the RN Agenda-a Sutter Health RN Recruitment & Retention Initiative.
• Featured in several articles on the Nursing Shortage: *Inside Sutter Health entitled “Facing the Nursing Crisis-How Sutter Health Will Respond”; Cover Story of NurseWeek February 2004 publication entitled “Can We Fix It?” relating to the Nursing Shortage; the California Nurse Journal on foreign nurse recruitment; and the Tracy Press on May 11, 2001 on “Hospital Grappling with Nationwide Nursing Shortage”.
