The Borgen Project - Headquarters in Seattle Washington · January, 2019 – April, 2019 I completed a 4 month long, part-time internship with The Borgen Project, a non-profit organization that secures congressional support for global poverty legislation. I received three awards, one for raising over $1,200, another for meeting with Sen. Gillibrand’s, Sen. Schumer’s and Rep. Morelle’s offices, and for mobilizing over 70 people to email their congressional officers. I completed weekly tasks such as calling congressional offices, campaigning, emailing congressional assistants regarding legislative priorities for the 116th Congress, and networking. I was published in The Democrat and Chronicle for an opinion piece I wrote regarding International Affairs Budget reform. I have been invited back as a Volunteer Editor. LEGAL ASSISTANT/FLOATER

My job was to assist attorneys in drafting correspondence, pleadings, discovery demands, motions, and other legal documents from dictation. I used Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel), as well as edited pdf’s on Adobe (OCR system, Bates Numbering, etc.). Our clientele consisted of patrons with vehicle and traffic infractions and criminal defense matters. My position responsibilities consisted of handling client files, corresponding with courts in the Upstate New York area, paralegal writing, managing deadlines and continuous organization of files. The job required many hours of research and constant learning. I am proficient in New York State Vehicle and Traffic Laws and had an understanding of Criminal Procedure Laws and Penal Laws. I practiced some legal writing in correspondence to courts, District Attorney’s Offices and clients.
