Research Experience at College:

RESEARCH PROJECT:

Title: DRUG UTILIZATION OF NSAIDS IN A TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL

Duration: 6 months

Design: Prospective observational study in a hospital

Objectives: To obtain information about the most suitable routes of administration of NSAIDS and inappropriate duration of drug treatment in patients. To identify the rational/irrational use of drugs and evaluate the effectiveness of drug therapy in patients. To improve patient safety and promote optimal drug therapy.

Duties as a Clinical Pharmacist at KIMS Hospital - from July 2017 to Oct 2019

Screens prescriptions to make sure there are no errors.

Advices patients on the appropriate dosage and the best way to take their medications.

Informs patients on proper storage of medicines after they are discharged.

Counsels patients on foods and drugs to avoid while taking prescribed medications.

Joins ward rounds to be oriented with patients’ drug histories.

Coordinates with other medical professionals when patients have adverse reactions to prescribed medications.

Respond to queries about medicines from healthcare professionals in the hospital and patients.

Checked patients’ medical records when they came for prescription refills.

Assisted in recording and monitoring stock inventory & Organize storage and handling of medicines.

1.An experienced and certified healthcare professional with multiple tasks, especially expertise in screening prescriptions focus on being performing clinical duties as a pharmacist rather than clerical tasks. Highly accomplished academically and results driven, leveraging finely honed interpersonal and time management skills to manage and implement.

2.As a Pharm.D graduate I gained experience in counseling the patients on the use of prescriptions and over the counter medications and also follow up patients on medication usage and their side effects; educating doctors, nurses and other health care providers about new medications and drug therapy protocols; ensuring patient safety (for example, preventing potentially dangerous interactions between drugs.)

3.In my final year at college, I used to verify patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming the purpose of visit. I also assisted with preparing patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests such as taking blood pressure, weight, temperature and reporting patient history summary.
