Support to DFAS Project

Served as Analyst reviewing and restructuring financial information for 15 agencies tied to DFAS reporting. Data mining for information to ensure day to day operations and financial data is restored in new system and ensuring data matches to data received from Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). Successful import and validation of data from various Feeder systems to Defense Cash Accountability System (i.e. CAPSW, IPAC, MOCAS etc.) Worked with DFAS for proper coding and ensure match rate of data is completed for upload into ADVANA system. Worked with other Analyst to complete research with regards to finding true variances for resolution. Reconciliation of data from ADVANA systems to the various pay system. Compiled PIVOT data for 15 agencies data match. Project ended abruptly when funding was withdrawn. Only team members with Python experience were retained.

Department of Defense – Defense Financial Accounting Services – DFAS 08/2008 – 12/2018

Accountant, Departmental Reporting, Accounts Maintenance and Control (AMC)/In-Transit Team and Accounting Technician/Certifier

Was primary Accountant and Point-of-Contact (POC) for Office of Secretary Defense (OSD) Army. Responsible for monthly and quarterly reporting for Budgetary and Automated Financial System (AFS) reporting through DDRS-B and DDRS-AFS, during the last 3 years of tenure. Served as responsible Accountant resolving In-Transit transactions by researching and analyzing all data extracted from the various system e.g. Defense Cash Accountability System (DCAS), Defense Agencies Initiative (DAI) and Legacy systems. While completing Day to Day tasks. Began career with DFAS as a Vendor Pay Technician actively and successfully completing voucher process, ensured that documents were legible for scanning and processing in the Centralized Electronic Document Management System (CEDMS). Reviewed and analyzed contracts provided for processing, coded vendors with vendor identification numbers or cage codes for payment processing and became trained for certification of funds through the Certifying Officers Legislation for Legacy and GFEBS systems. Processed day-to-day transactions through the certification and audit branch. Ensured new coding, process and procedures were clear for Certifiers and completed all required trainings for GFEBS requirements. Production of 70 plus files per day was met and maintained backup files as needed while certifying all files for the day from the report listing provided by the Branch Chief.
