Project: LAKE MEAD LOW LAKE LEVEL PUMPING STATION, Barnard May 2015 to July 2016
Assistant Construction Manager and Contracts Manager for the design and construction of the Southern Nevada Water Authorities’ 650 million dollar, Low Lake Level Pumping Station. The pump station is designed to have a flow rate of 900 million gallons per day (mgd), expandable to 1200 mgd. The project was fast-tracked via a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) approach to facilitate completion before Lake Mead fell to water levels that would jeopardize the use of existing lake intakes. Work on this project included the selection of one-of-a-kind submersible pumps. The pump station includes 34, 3050 horsepower pumps and 34, 91 inch diameter, 500 feet deep well shafts. With a final tolerance of well casing centerline at pump depth to be within 4-inch diameter circle to maintain proper flow clearance around the pumps. Key Accomplishments:
Ø Coordination of multiple contractors and subcontractors operating in a confined construction site, especially in the underground shafts, tunnels, and forebay while working in a highly complicated fast-tracked environment. Ø Developed a time-lapse and video documentation system including a solar powered stationary DSLR camera that took and downloaded pictures every fifteen minutes. I also employed multiple movable time-lapse cameras, go-pros, and motion tracking cameras to develop videos for press releases, presentations, documentaries, and construction monitoring and progress tracking. Beyond this, I worked to develop a UAV program and worked with the federal government to get the necessary permits and approvals.
