PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
ART ANDERSON ASSOCIATES, BREMERTON, WA May 2020 – Present NAVAL ARCHITECT INTERN
• Utilize Rhinoceros 3D to generate GHS models for vessels from lines drawings or AutoCAD files. Conduct damage and intact stability, and floodable length analyses using GHS while maintaining compliance with all applicable United States Coast Guard regulations.
• Conduct first principle structural analysis calculations to determine if the vessel’s structural integrity is sufficient or if members need to be resized. Perform the same calculations to assist in weight reduction for the vessels to see where members may be oversized.
• Aid the facilities division as a Civil Engineer as needed. Attend site visits whenever possible as a Civil Engineer. UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN, ANN ARBOR, ANN ARBOR, MI Aug 2019 - Dec 2019 GRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCH ASSISTANT
• Conducted preliminary research on active materials for turning a hydrofoil into a renewable energy harvesting device that could power its self- sensing/actuating to move towards condition-based maintenance instead of schedule-based maintenance.
• Assessed dynamical instabilities and feasibility of the favored active materials. JACOBS ENGINEERING, SACRAMENTO, CA Jul 2018 - Oct 2018 WATER MODELER CIVIL ENGINEERING INTERN
• Utilized HEC-GEORAS to create pre-existing conditions before exporting the HEC-GEORAS geometry into HEC-RAS.
• Evaluated the desired alternative in a steady-state and an unsteady-state model to warrant its superior feasibility. UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DAVIS, Davis, CA Feb 2018 - Oct 2018 RESEARCH ASSISTANT, TAHOE ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH CENTER
• Extracted mass data sets from Excel using MATLAB to identify and eliminate unnecessary, convoluted data. Formatted the data into concise, targeted information summaries and reports for publication for National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
