ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Medical & Surgical Ward
Admission, discharge and transfer of patients and maintaining their records.
Perform patient assessments (eg: Obtains and documents patient health history, records vital signs and symptoms and notes changes, makes observations and draws logical conclusions, identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports information to physician); makes nursing diagnosis.
Providing pre-operative care & specific post operative care according to surgery done.
Hourly maintaining the chest tube drainage, urine output, IV fluids, blood pressure, respiratory rate, temperature of post operative patients
Meeting nutritional and elimination needs.
Assisting in intubation and extubations providing tracheotomy care.
Provides professional nursing care (eg. Administers medication and treatments ordered by physician, applies and changes sterile dressings, provides eye and ear irrigations, administers injections etc).
Handling any emergency in the unit and assisting and performing CPR for patients having cardiopulmonary arrest.
Prepares patients for medical / surgical procedures
Provides patient education regarding health care and responds to patient enquiries.
Documents/Charts patients treatment, medications administered, vital signs, nursing care provided etc.
Informs patients of laboratory results and explains medication procedures.
Assisting in various investigative procedures like lumber puncture, pleural fluid aspiration, peritoneal fluid aspiration, chest tube in section & defibrillation. And diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy including sclerotherapy banding for varices and treatment of bleeding ulcers.
Assessing skin integrity of bed ridden patients.
Nursing patients on Haemo dialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
Maintaining nutritional status of patients on tube feeds and parental nutrition.
Doing catheterigation of patients and maintaining intake output record.
Observing and reporting of fluid and electrolyte imbalance and changes in mental status of patient.
Administer drugs –oral, sublingual, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous.
Maintaining good Nurse –Patient Relationship.
EMERGENCY AND INTENSIVE CARE RESPONSIBILTY :
Taking care of patients according to their disease conditions. And triaging the patient.
Perform initial assessment.
Provides professional nursing care (eg. Administers medication and treatments ordered by physician, applies and changes sterile dressings, provides eye and ear irrigations, administers injections etc).
Hourly maintaining in cardiac monitoring, IV fluids, blood pressure, respiratory rate, temperature of assigned patients.
