My name is Avery Schulz and I am passionate and experienced in the culinary world. I am very quick and eager to learn. I am excellent at focused, precise, and menial tasks, as well as keeping up with fast-moving work environments. I have been interested in and learning about food from a very young age.

Experience

Career and Technology Centre Culinary Program

Over the past 2 years I have been enrolled in the CTC’s Culinary Program, where I learned how to work in an industrial kitchen setting. This included prep work, bakery, line cook, customer service, kitchen etiquette and more. I also have a great foundation of culinary knowledge and skills.

Through this program I competed in a city-wide cake decorating competition and won first place.

Teatro Restaurant

By winning the cake competition, I was given the opportunity to work with pastry chef Tracie Zahavich in the Teatro kitchen for a day.

This experience gave me familiarity with the workings of a professional kitchen.

Cake Commissions

I have taken several commissions for birthday and anniversary cakes. I am able to budget my time to ensure the cakes are ready on time and are of great quality.

Theatre Experience

I grew up doing many different kinds of stage performances, from all types of dance to vocal performances and musical theatre. This has given me great people skills as well as an ability to improvise and think quickly. I am used to being put on the spot and am able to come up with quick solutions.

SAIT Professional Cooking Program

I have been accepted to and am attending this program starting in January.
