On the job training as well as requiring to go to the school 3 nights a week in ERIE, PA(if working on north of i90 corridor; MONACA if working south of i90 corridor). It consisted of learning how to stick, mig, tig welding and other techniques of welding. Learning the blueprint reading and mathematical analysis of fitting pipe in either a industrial, commercial, or residential setting. OSHA training, crane signaling training, and training how to work in a elevated or confined setting. Learning the art of brotherhood, history of union trades, etc. There is alot to explain pertaining this job but this is the basic summary.

Production of polyethylene pipes such as water, sewage, gas, and utility pipes. Ensure the pipe is precise by using a micrometer hourly while running the pipe onto a spindle, coiling it to various lengths. Some is 100 feet, while others is 500 and the OD/ID varies in size as well and could be as small as half inch to as big as 2". Conducted in the EAST plant.

The west plant produces straight pipes for sewage, water, and gas and could be as big as 24 inches, 2-1/2 thick and 50 feet long.

Manual Lathe Operator

Superior Tire and Rubber

Production of rubber and polyurethane construction wear tires, trackpads, and other parts pertaining to the construction field. This position's responsibility is to use a manual lathe to trim the OD(OUTER DIAMETER) and ID(INNER DIAMETER) to blueprint specifications and to customers satisfaction.

Part 1: Warner and Swasey manual lathe

Production of trimming the pour tops off polyurethane press on tires. Required to switch out tools according to product being used due to higher viscosity. Also required to sharpen tools daily to ensure precise operations. Resizing the chucks accordingly to specific sizes of tires being operated and adjusting the speed to ensure precise and safe operation.

Part 2: Vertical Turning Lathe

Similar to the Warner and Swasey but lathe is slower and product is positioned in a vertical position to run larger tire sizes. More common to run rubber tires due to larger OD/ID. Operation of crane is required on every tire.

Manages and Supervise a production line, and reports to supervisor, manager, director and CEO. Ensure finished product is packed properly according to company's storyboard, and conforms 100% to customers satisfaction. Completes hourly checks such as sealing, expiration date prints, and legibility. Conducts metal detection tests, and water leak tests on individually packaged materials, or SURPs. Ensures that workers are packaging product in a timely manner and is completing their job right. Any worker that fails to do their job reports to shift supervisor. Maintains machines such as sealers, printers, taping machines, etc. Reports problems out of our hands to maintenance or supervisor.
