It is a massive multidisciplinary hospital over 2500 bed capacity and over 55 theatres, 3 ICU departments each one has between 12 to 15 beds. I‘ve been to all anaesthetic specialities including adult cardio-thoracic, neurosurgery, paediatric cardio-thoracic and neonatal surgery. There is ongoing weekly lectures for the MSc./ MD candidates which I attended on a regular basis.

I got my MSc. in anaesthesia during that period.

It is 400 bed hospital with 8 ICU beds. My training was in different specialities of anaesthesia and under the supervision and teaching of army consultants who were mostly UK qualified

Audits and Research

I investigated “Propofol vs. Thiopentone and the stress response to intubation” for the partial fulfilment of my MSc., Cairo University 1992.

Post operative hypothermia audit, King George Hospital, May 1996, which showed that hypothermia is more likely in opertions longer than 90 minutes and in the elderly.

Audit on unplanned admissions to ICU from the labour ward in North Middlesex Hospital, sept. 1997

Audit on tracheostomy complications both percutaneous & surgical, in

Teaching and Presentations

I have participated regularly in teaching the SHOs joining me in theatre on both practical and theoretical matters & discussed with them clinical scenarios.

I have also participated in departmental tutorials, journal clubs, audits and vivas throughout my career.

Management and organisation

I am always keen to attend departmental meetings to participate in discussing issues related to work to improve the service provided for patients.

In my current post at the Royale Hayat Hospital I have established the acute pain protocol, deep venous thrombosis (DVT) prophylaxis protocol especially in relation to epidural catheter usage and the crash cart for the hospital. I have also actively participated in the labour ward forum and pharmacy meetings.
