Job Description
CHIEF RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST
1. Directs and coordinates activities of radiology department in hospital or other medical facility. Review work schedules and assign duties to radiologic/x-ray technologist to maintain patient flow and achieve production goals.
2. Demonstrates successful communication with patientsand understanding of patients needs, in the assessment, treatment and/or care of patients.
3. Oversees staff in operation of imaging equipment such as x-ray machine, CT scan, ultrasound equipment, evaluates accuracy and quality of images and provides technical assistance. 4. Performs Diagnostic Imaging procedures in the absence Radiologic Technologist. 5. Demonstrate new techniques, equipment and procedure to staff. 6. Maintains adequate supplies required for daily operations. 7. Implements and monitor radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with government regulatory requirements. 8. Recommends personnel actions such as performance evaluations, promotions and disciplinary measures.
9. Assists with the development and maintenance of Diagnostic Imaging procedures to include procedure manuals, quality control, quality assurance. 10. Functions as clinical instructor for the Radiologic Technologist program as needed. RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST
1. Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements. 2. Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques. 3. Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies. 4. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
5. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. 6. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
7. Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
8. Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
9. Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors. 10. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.
11. Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; developing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments. 12. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. 13. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. MACHINES HANDLED:
