Work Experience

I am working as content editor at ETV Bharat. I have also worked as reporter & trainee in Doordarshan Kendra’s show, ‘Good Morning Kashmir’. At university I was a regular reporter and anchor for the programme digest Quest. I worked as a video volunteer with Kashmir Unheard and a reporter with Kashmir News Bureau. I was a mentor at SuSumer Foundation Rajasthan

As a journalist I have worked as reporter-cum-cameraman and content writer with few local news organizations. I broke stories from a range of beats which were later followed by some national newspapers and electronic news-channels. I interned with Mumbai-based ‘ABP News’ for a month. Being trained in many workshops conducted by BBC World Service Trust in Kashmir, a sense of social affairs reporting has developed in me.

I made several documentaries on social issues. However, documentaries on marginalisation faced by lepers in Srinagar and how journalists report Kashmir received critical acclaim and the later was aired on BBC. I have a desire to make more short films on various issues such as diseases, poverty, women’s empowerment, social issues, politics and law, marginalisation, conflict, gender discrimination, climate change and so on.

Few life lessons of patience, determination and commitment came my way only after making attempts first in journalism and film careers and then as civil service aspirant. Being guided by passion and talent, I seriously take journalism/content writing/social service as my career; spending some time in other pursuits proved very crucial for my personality development. I learnt that impatience can be killed only through the art of patience. I learnt how to unplug the energy hidden in me and overcome the fears developed by socialization in conflict zone. Some failures have made me a crisis manager in my life and job. I am also struggling for a platform to explore the unexplored in social service front because there is wide discrepancy left between being socially aware and socially active. I voluntarily worked with few non-profit organisations like Arise Impact, IGSSS and have been associated with Global Youth Foundation and RTI movement in Kashmir.
