Project Description:

ATP is a multi-year IT & Business process transformation program in Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company (FFIC) to transform end to end IT and business processes from submission management through underwriting, policy servicing, billings / collections / treasury, claims, reinsurance, regulatory and financial reporting to Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) systems. It has different Development work streams like Historic Data Retention, Data Migration, Document Reprint, Decommission & Re-platform legacy applications to new gen systems like File-Net.

Central Functions Business area is composed with applications which are used by both Personal & Commercial Line of Business. This Business area is further divided into Billing, Data & Finance applications. Billing applications performs the Billing of the FFIC Issued policies and Data applications maintain & distribute the customer data in Fireman’s Fund environment. Financial applications Include the corporate applications handle the Disbursements, Financial and statutory reporting.

I support the Mainframe part of Billing and the Financial applications. This area consists of 8 Mainframe applications and their frontend Interfaces. I am working as a Senior Mainframe Developer for the Mainframe applications, which Interface with Multiple Upstream Legacy and provide data to multiple downstream applications.

As a Senior System Engineer, I am responsible for Analysis, design, development, testing and implementation of critical Work request for our IBM US customer Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company (FFIC), Novato, CA, USA.

FFIC is a one of the famous Insurance Company in USA which is part of Allianz Group. It offers automobile insurance, property, marine, liability and workers comp policies and claims. This project is taken by IBM for enhancement, development, maintenance and 24 X 7 Production support. IBM has taken over almost 200 applications from FFIC. I am involved in Billing Applications like IReS which is one of the critical applications.

The IReS system consists of a thin client-server vendor application called URS. It is written in JAVA and uses CICS transactions for the front-end system. URS is used for some of the assumed reinsurance processing and most of the ceded reinsurance processing. This application supports billing and accounting functions for the reinsurance department. The on-line system is used primarily for inquiry, review and validation of cessions, preparing billing packages, cash application, receivable reconciliation, and reporting. In addition, this application is used in the preparation of Schedule F.

FFIC is a one of the famous Insurance Company in USA which is part of Allianz Group. It offers automobile insurance, property, marine, liability and workers comp policies and claims. This project is taken by IBM for enhancement, development, maintenance and 24 X 7 Production support. IBM has taken over almost 200 applications from FFIC. Among those applications, critical applications are maintained at Customer location and rest is maintained at offshore in India. I am involved in ATLAS & Claims applications which are of the critical applications.

ATLAS stands for Automated Loss Adjustment system. Claim Adjusters, CSS, Managers and Home Office Tech Advisors in 6 complex offices, 4 WC centers, the St Louis Fastpath office, the Home office and several specialty offices, other customers with limited access are CRAIG IS, Lancers, insured’s, producers, other Home Office staff, auditors, and other vendors and TPAs uses ATLAS application for creating Claims, matching the policies, calculating deductibles, litigations, maintain the nurse notes, dairies.

On a high level perspective, ATLAS processes the claims of three umbrella policies.

ATLAS is the front-end adjusting system using CICS Screens. It is used as the main claims tool for claim professionals to execute financial transactions and to document claim details and decisions.

Its main input is ALDS and all other policy systems. ATLAS sends output nightly to CBR, and the CDW applications for issuing the checks to banks for claim holders. Files containing subsets of data are passed to other systems, such as CDF, and to reporting bureaus.
