Curriculum Vitae

Dr Abhijit A Raut MD Radiology

I have been a practicing radiologist in Mumbai since the year 2000. I have vast experience working with nearly all modalities of imaging. My main passion is, however, chest/cardiovascular and abdominal imaging.

My journey in radiology started with my radiology residency training at KEM hospital in Parel, Mumbai; a preeminent institution in Mumbai circles especially in radiology. I stayed on after residency taking on the role of Assistant Professor in this institution. This formed a great foundation base for my developing years as a radiologist. I became well versed with all facets of diagnostic and image guided interventional radiology. I can do CT guided interventional procedures like –lung, bone, vertebral biopsies and drainage of collection. During my time here, I was fortunate to be invited for a short-term fellowship-training program in Cardiac MRI at the Brompton Institute, London. I subsequently developed a cardiac MRI program upon my return. Over the years I have developed interest & expertise in imaging of congenital heart disease.

During my time at KEM Hospital, I mentored numerous residents passing through our radiology residency program.

Around 10-11 years ago, I decided to make a move into the private sector and joined a large multi-specialty institute as a Consultant (Attending) radiologist. Through this move I have been able to focus on my primary areas of interest in Body imaging while keeping in close touch with other radiology subspecialties. I have partnered closely with surgery teams for facilitating optimal patient care through regular interdepartmental meetings and conferences. I have also been fortunate to be able to continue utilizing my teaching opportunities in our hospital through the postgraduate DNB program. Since last 10 years I have been actively involved in PET CT reporting.

Radiology has always been on the cutting edge of technology. It has witnessed dramatic changes due to continuous evolvement of computers and artificial intelligence. We are presently involved in artificial intelligence projects in radiology at our institution.

Going forward, my great passion in radiology is to explore the new developing frontiers in my areas of interest with a mix of clinical work, research and teaching.
