NURSING STATION TECHNICIAN – HEMATOLOGY/ONCOLOGY, PICU, CVICU
Delivered pediatric patient care to those receiving treatment and chemotherapy for chronic and/or terminal illnesses. This includes post-operative care of patients who received liver and renal transplant and caring for infants with RSV and failure-to-thrive. Frequently floated between the PICU, and CVICU.
Performed care activities, such as vital signs, daily weighs, inputs/outputs, skincare, rash management, daily hygiene, ambulating, blood glucose Accu-Chek, and feeding neonates/infants.
Focus included working with neonates who were recovering from cerebral vascular accidents post-birth, GBS and short bowel syndrome diagnoses.
Collaborated with Social & Adoptive Services to ensure proper protocol was followed, such as restricted access, additional monitoring and documentation procedures. Cared for infants awaiting adoption and helped prospective families to understand their medical needs.
