1. Adjustable Inner Flame tube in Annular Combustor Description:

Concept of ‘Adjustable inner flame tube in Annular Combustor’ has been proposed for aircraft gas turbine engines in order to compensate for the effect of change in pressure with respect to altitude because change in pressure with respect to altitude will affect the combustion efficiency causing problems like pressure losses, non-uniform combustion and high emission of UHC ( Unburnt Hydrocarbon) and NOx. The inner flame tube can be adjustable or movable in longitudinal direction, this longitudinal motion is achieved by means of two rack and pinion gear mechanism. Pinion gear is driven by Sine wave brush-less direct drive motor, which is built-in inside the frames connected with pinion housing. Sine wave brush-less motor direct drive motor is operated by engine control unit and it makes inner flame tube to move to and fro for limited distance via rack. The distance travelled by inner flame will vary according to engine specification and size. Linear motion of inner flame tube provides necessary turbulence required for airflow to mix with injected fuel, so that aforementioned problems can be minimized to greater extent. Duration: 6 months

2. Experimental Hybrid Rocket Test Setup

Description:

Hybrid Rocket Test Setup was developed in order to provide test setup laboratory for Aeronautical department in the Silver oak College of Engineering and Technology. In this test setup, steady state hybrid rocket test has been carried out. Propellant used in this hybrid rocket was the mixture of a poly(methyl 2-methylpropenoate) in solid state and gaseous oxidizer. Tubular fuel grain configuration has been used in this test and through holes the oxidizer has been passed and spark is supplied to ignite the propellant for combustion. Duration: 6 months
