Objective: Mechanical Engineer: design, process/project, or
manufacturing engineering desired.
Education: Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech),
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering – 1974.
Background includes dynamics of machinery, heat transfer,
fluid dynamics, materials science, and mechanical design
with Autodesk Autocad and Creo (Pro-E) software.
Professional Experience:
3/1994 – 7/2016: The Plastek Group, 2425 W. 23rd St., Erie, PA 16506
Position: mold designer.
Design and detailing of plastic injection molds and
related components using Autocad and Creo (Pro-E)
software. Work involved design of cores, cavities, mold
bases, hot runner systems, cooling systems, and ejector
systems. Also production of specialized quality-control
drawings and product drawings for manufacturing.
12/1988 – 4/1990: T.M. Industrial Supply, Inc., Fluid Engineering Division,
1432 Walnut St., Erie, PA 16502
Position: Project Engineer
Design of fluid strainers, fluid filters, and pressure vessels.
These products are custom fabricated for the process industries.
Design of special-purpose vessels such as anti-pulsation tanks
for gas compression. Design of centrifugal separators. All
vessels designed in accordance with the A.S.M.E.
Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. Code calculations
performed with the aid of computer analysis using
a proprietary program.
9/1983 – 10/1988: Modern Industries Inc., 613 W. 11th Street,
Erie, PA 16501
Position: Design Engineer
Design, development, and testing of hydraulic products
for control of energy, vibration, linear and rotary motion.
These units are designed to meet customer
requirements. Applications engineering for new O.E.M.
uses of these products.
12/1979 – 4/1982: Taylor Devices Inc., 200 Taylor Drive, North
Tonawanda, NY 14120
Position: Design and Test Engineer
Development and design of shock absorbers, shock isolation
systems, and liquid compressible springs for industrial and
aerospace applications. These products utilize molecular
compressibility. Work included dynamic testing of these
systems at drop-test facility. The facility is equipped with
a CRT storage oscilloscope plus force and displacement
transducers for impulse analysis.
