United States Peace Corps, Tanzania – Health Education and Community Outreach Specialist

Referred 729 community members to HIV testing services.
Trained 40 mothers about essential maternal care services and healthy pregnancy.
Assisted 890 people in understanding the importance of regularly testing their health as well as the warning signs of non-communicable diseases such as anemia, diabetes, and hypertension. As a result of this grant-funded project, 890 people tested their health.
Facilitated a reproductive and sexual health seminar for 399 secondary school students and 60 adults for a total of 10 hours over three weeks.
Distributed 250 reusable menstrual pads to low income female secondary students resulting in a decrease of school absences.
Facilitated a week-long WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) session for 28 volunteers as a training of trainers. Each participant went on to host WASH trainings in their village.
Served on the Malaria Committee from 2017-2018
Planned, coordinated, and facilitated a week-long malaria seminar for 12 volunteers and 12 host country nationals in both English and Swahili as a training of trainers. Participants went on to host their own malaria seminars in their villages leading community members to take more proactive measures in malaria prevention.
Conducted a malaria seminar for 104 secondary students and 70 primary school students discussing the science of malaria, malaria prevention, and the importance of testing.
Hosted monthly clinic lessons at the local health care center to discuss child nutrition, healthy pregnancy, exclusive breastfeeding, family planning, water sanitation, and anemia.
Hosted a handwashing seminar for 43 primary school students and 8 adults that focused on the importance of handwashing and when it is necessary to wash hands.

Designed and implemented numerous programs as a Peace Corps volunteer including WASH trainings and reproductive and sexual health seminars.

Organized the budget and managed the finances for the Non-Communicable Diseases and HIV grant project.
