Professional Experience and Internship

Maccaferri Environmental Solutions Pvt Ltd (July 10, 2019 – July 31, 2019) – Internship Renowned as the world leader in gabion retaining, offer engineered solutions including reinforced soil structures, coastal protection, soil stabilization, landfills, natural hazard mitigation and river control works. A 20 days internship at Chennai where we were taught to analyse different field problem and design the gabion retaining structure.

Main Project (M.Tech, Final Year): “Durability and strength characteristics analysis of modified coir fiber in flyash clay mixture”

This paper focus on modification of coir fiber in improving the durability of fiber and increasing the strength characteristics of weak clay soil mixed with optimum flyash. The present work involves modification of coir fiber using physical and chemical treatment. Physically they are treated with bitumen and chemically it is nanomodified using calcium chloride and sodium hydroxide. The modified and unmodified coir fiber were subjected to alkaline and neutral pH conditions for alternate wetting and drying cycles, for the assessment of their durability, measured in terms of tensile strength. The modified and unmodified coir fiber were added to soil flyash mix in different percentage(0.5,1, 1.5) to study the unconfined compressive strength and CBR of the soil. The modified coir fiber was found to resist adverse chemical and physical conditions much better than the unmodified coir fiber. Nanomodification of fibers increased their tensile strength and caused a better interaction with the soil flyash matrix by an enhanced interfacial adhesion. The strength parameter of the soil was also improved upon the addition of modified coir fiber. Thus modified coir fiber showed an excellent potential for its long term use in adverse condition and improving the bearing capacity of weak soil.

Mini Project (M.Tech, Second Semester): “Study on the volume and strength characteristics of flyash kaolinite clay mixture with inclusion of RECRON 3s fiber” An experimental investigation was conducted to evaluate the effects of RECRON 3s fiber inclusion on geotechnical characteristics of kaolinite soil that was stabilized with flyash.The study was focused on the strength and volume characteristics by conducting compaction

,unconfined compressive strength and shrinkage limit. The test result showed that RECRON 3s fiber enhanced strength characteristics and helped in reducing volume.

Project work (B.Tech): “Soil stabilization using terrazyme for road construction” The Project study was conducted on the material which is a Bio-enzyme called terrazyme which was to improve the sub-base characteristics of a road by conducting compaction, unconfined compressive strength and CBR test. From the test it was inferred that a small quantity of this enzyme (0.05%) had significant improvement in UCC and CBR values of the soil. Its effect was studied for different curing days and found that with time there was strength improvement.
