Design of Load Stability System- CU Boulder Design Project, Vita Inclinata Inc. (Sept’ 2019-Jan’ 2020)
• Developed a Load Stability System (LSS) that deploys two electric duct fans to achieve bi-directional thrust on an autonomous suspended load control platform using a single motor.
• Managed all phases of the design process for 60% of the components, assembly and sub-assemblies, including drafting, dimensioning, GD&T, tolerance stack up analysis, prototyping and documenting results.
• Worked with Project Manager, Financial coordinator and manufacturing shop to ensure on-time delivery for project.
• Performed FMEA, preliminary CFD to determine fan to fan distance and designed experiments for testing bearings for endurance.
• Manufactured and assembled a complete functioning model with all the required specifications including alignment, thrust to weight ratio, efficiency, bi-directional thrusts and ramp up/down time. Automated design of a Gripper using a Topology Optimization Algorithm (Mar’ 2020- May 2020)
• Used Topology Optimization Algorithm consisting of a Mesher, FEA module and optimizer on MATLAB to automatically generate an optimal structure for a Gripper subjected to boundary conditions such as volume constraints and load conditions with an objective of minimizing deflection.
• Verified design using FEA on Solidworks.
Reverse Engineering of an Oscillating Moving Water Sprinkler (Jan’ 2019-Mar’ 2019)
• Reverse engineered and modified a novel sprinkler by modifying parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies.
• Produced engineering drawings (SolidWorks) and applied GD&T techniques to analyze critical components of the design.
• Implemented DFMA approaches to reduce number of parts from 40 to 21, material usage by 20%, production & assembly costs. Autonomous Forklift for small scale warehouse (Jan’ 19- Mar’ 19)
• Designed and manufactured a package delivery robot, involving path planning, collision avoidance, computer vision, and arm actuation to simulate a fully automated warehouse workforce.
• This project used an Arduino along with a RaspberryPi as the processing unit. Design of an Automatic wheel-based door opener (Aug’ 2018- Dec’ 2018)
• Designed a user-centric prototype using Arduino and Rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing and laser cutting.
• Interviewed a pool of 50 users, prepared a business plan for possible market launch. EXPERIENCE
Mechanical Design Engineering Intern, Apex IT Systems, Inc, Delaware, USA. (June’ 2019- present)
• Designing a Wheel Changing Kit using SolidWorks to create a safer mechanism to reduce human efforts in wheel changing.
• Study of all the possible categories (Based on load of vehicle) to lay an outline on the modification of current kit for those cars.
• Responsible for performing a full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement)
• Create drawings according to GD&T standards.
Production and Quality Intern- Siemens Ltd. (May 2017-Sept’ 2017)
• Responsible for creating assembly instructions, process documentation, preventive maintenance and control plans.
• FMEA analysis to identify all possible modes of failure in the design and manufacturing stage.
• Implemented Kanban and other Lean six sigma strategies such as Cellular manufacturing, Poka Yoke, etc. on production floor.
• Monitored process performance using statistical process control.
• Assisted in shop floor layout planning, document BOMs for assembly and supervised manufacturing.
• Resulted in increase of potential profit by more than $20000. CFD Intern- Automotive Research Association of India, Government of India (May 2016-July 2016)
• Optimized an intake manifold through CFD ANSYS and experiments on a swirl rig by reducing swirl ratio variations in ports of intake manifold by 60% by varying parameters such as plenum angle, port radius and length. Manufacturing Intern- Sterimax Pvt. Ltd. (Sept’ 2015 -Dec’ 2015)
• Assisted in CAD, modification, analysis and documentation of various parts.
• Evaluate materials provided by suppliers according to specifications & quality standards.
• Communicate required delivery days for Bill of Material (BOM) releases, according to supply chain and supplier lead times.
• Gained knowledge of injection molding design and CNC. EDUCATION
