SUMMARY
I am a Geologist with exceptional log interpretation experience. I wildcat drilled the Horn River Shale formation, drilled all wells (exploration and development), drilled 46,000+ ft of horizontal, evaluated 120,000 ft of horizontal company wide, and contributed ~9 tcf to Devon Canada’s bottom line. I created the first stratigraphic column and all maps.
I have also worked for 5 years as a Petrophysicist in Canada and in California. During this time I evaluated every reservoir in the WCSB: Doig, Montney, Halfway, Duvernay, SWS, etc.
Previous to the oil & gas industry, I worked in the gold industry in Dease Lake, BC. Since starting my own company, I have been consulting in the exploration and development of: Helium, Heavy Oil, Potash, and Environmental Disposal of Water evaluation. I also conduct international market evaluations for multiple commodities, data management, and conduct geo-statistical analytical evaluations for non-profits.
Please note: I am currently taking my last course that will compliment my current degrees and experience for compliance with the Geoscientists Canada Requirements for Professional Registration in the field of Environmental Geoscientist.
EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
Solid Rock Ltd (Cochrane, Alberta) January 2017-Present
Small Business Owner
Established a strong foothold through marketing in North America for a start-up
Evaluated historic wells in Saskatchewan for by passed pay (300+ bbls/d)
Historical well digital log cleaning and re-normalizing
Evaluated a water disposal proposal program for a municipality dealing with excess water
Exploration and development evaluation for Helium and Potash
Evaluated a water disposal for a Municipal Water District in Saskatchewan
Created Proposals for Small Scale Solution Potash Mining
Developed the initial framework for a Potash Distribution Center and export Terminal
Occidental Petroleum/CRC (Bakersfield, California) June 2014-Dec 2015
Sr. Petrophysicist
Rebuilt the Petrophysical model for the Western Shallow Oil Zone of the Elk Hills
I refined the Petrophysical tool and silt/sand digital interpretation to create new maps
New mapping created drilling locations in 100 year old reservoir with 50% higher pressures
Created a standardized well log database that allowed statistical analytics
Implemented a dept education session to allow me to get up to speed in the shorted time
These sessions created discussions within disciplines that resulted in optimization of wells
I was in the process tying all wells production to logs, when companywide lay-offs
Devon Energy (Calgary, Alberta) January 2012-May 2014
Geologist/Petrophysicist for Thermal Heavy Oil
Evaluated surrounding lands for prospects in Small Scale Steam potential
Identified, created, and treated a need within the team for a petrophysical evaluation
New evaluation was used to high-grade existing lands and evaluate surrounding lands
Assisted in team development and interdisciplinary understanding
Devon Energy (Calgary, Alberta) January 2010-January 2012
Petrophysicist/Geo-Mechanical/Horizontal Evaluations
Assisted all teams across the company with their well data interpretation
Created 2 reference posters for geologist regarding geo-mechanics with log readings
Evaluated and steered 40,000 meters (120,000 ft) of horizontal well bore company wide
Performed education short courses regarding the scale of resolutions of logging tools
Assisted and advised exploration teams on methodologies of wildcat exploration
Evaluated existing lands within the deep basin and foot hills region, as well as evaluated nearby prospects
Performed regional studies on heavy oil potential
Created an algorithm in Geolog that performed initial, first passes of by-passed pay on 10,000+ abandonment wells
Devon Energy (Calgary, Alberta) May 2006-January 2010
Exploration and Development Geologist of Unconventional Shale
Explored and developed the largest thermal shale gas deposit in Devon Canada (9 tcf)
Created the first Stratigraphic column for the Horn River Shale Group
Drilled all exploration and development wells within the Horn River Shale Group
Cut and evaluated 60+ meters of shale core
Micro-Correlated ALL wells in cross sections and mapped all zones within the basin
Real time geo-steered 14,000 meters (46,000 ft), 100% within zone
Completed all development wells with multiple stages of frac per well
Created the “Crack the Cube” concept of completions within the shale using geo-mechanics
Performed multiple Lunch n’ Learns to help educate the company on the importance and need for shale development
Presented in multiple closed door, data room presentations for bringing on partners
Worked with an amazing interdisciplinary team to create and optimize the current development program that included over 2000 wells
After 10 years of production, all horizontal wells are still averaging 1mmcf/d, zero decline
North Rim Exploration (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) July 2005-April 2006
Resource Evaluation Geologist
Provided technical support, and helped create an NI 43-101 report to the TXS.
This evaluation involved the Potash resource within the province of Saskatchewan
The NI 43-101 report resulted in BHP attempt to purchase the majority of potash resource in Sask.
The evaluation identified extent, geological risk, mineralogical correlation, and lab results
Helped create the Geophysical evaluation program
