• M. Tech Thesis

Project Title : Reserve estimation and appraisal of marginal fields in KG basin. Mentor : Dr. Anirbid Sircar

Description : The objective of this study is to carry out an independent assessment of resources/reserve of these fields and to prognosticate the production profiles. The assessment will be based on the evaluation of 3D seismic data, log data and well completion data provided by the previous operator.

Title : Coal Bed Methane and its potential in Raniganj Coal field . Mentor : Dr. S K Roy.

Institution: Hindustan Oil Exploration Company.

Project Title: Flood Inundation Mapping of Jhelum Using HEC-GeoRAS: A RS and GIS study of 2014 Jammu and Kashmir Floods.

Mentor: Dr.Saurabh Mittal, Asst. Professor, UPES.

Description: The aim of this study is was prepare a planned non-structural flood risk zonation system which will enable flood plain management and regulation. Using temporal satellite imagery of specific time intervals (i.e. the image of the area before the flood and during peak flood days), the damage in the study region can be assessed.

• Major project 2

Project Title: Identifying landslides trigger areas and exposed assets around Chakrata, Uttarakhand. Mentor: Dr. Ashish Aggarwal, Asst. Professor, UPES. Description: The aim of this study is to pinpoint locations most prone to slope failure in Chakrata, Uttarakhand. Use rainfall climatology to infer the likely timing of slope failures. Perform basic surface and hydrology analyses of high resolution digital terrain model (DTM), including: Fill, Flow Direction, Flow Accumulation, Stream Link, Slope and Hillshade, among other complementary tools Predict the locations of unstable conditions as a function of slope and upslope contributing area.

Project Title: Land Use & Land Cover Change Detection of Delhi-NCR Region (Literature Review) Mentor: Dr Ashish Aggarwal, Asst. Professor, UPES. Description: The project focuses on the temporal changes occurring Delhi NCR Region using GIS & Remote Sensing Studies. Main objective of the study is detection of land use land cover changes in Delhi.

Project Title: GIS based integrated approach for monitoring and modelling of Hyper Urbanization for sustainable Environment in Delhi

Mentor: Dr. Saurabh Mittal, Asst. Professor,UPES. Description: Objective of the study is to prepare multi-temporal GIS database for the future LULC change, to assess the spatial and temporal characteristics of urban expansion in Delhi between 1987 to 2006 and to explore the spatial and temporal characteristics of urban expansion during this period.
