“Study of the
influence of
PPA on the
Pipe Extrusion
Process”
The influence of Polymer Processing additives
was assessed in the pipe extrusion and mono-
filament HDPE extrusion processes. I was a
part of the sales and marketing division in the
company and had to test the product
specifications with comparison to other
competitors. In order to analyze the results,
the manufacturing process of the additives
and also the various properties related to the
additives was studied. Tests were performed
on the additives and various parameters were
analyzed.

The process design for the
production of DME was carried
out by making the material and
energy balances. Economic
evaluation of the plant was carried
out and the process design was
developed using Aspen Hysys.
Heat integration of the design
developed was performed and the
energy savings were identified.

“Production of Mono-
Ethylene Glycol from
Syngas”
The steady state process design of
Mono Ethylene glycol production
process using dimethyl oxalate as
an intermediate was investigated.
Material and energy balances were
performed on the system taking
several assumptions. A Counter
current shell and tube heat
exchanger is chosen for the design
and the overall Heat transfer
coefficient and the heat transfer
area was calculated. Heat
integration was performed on the
system and the Grand Composite
Curve was drawn and Pinch point
was evaluated. Furthermore, the
economic analysis was performed
to calculate the Discounted cash
flow Rate of return, to check the
feasibility of the plant and the
breakeven analysis was performed.
Subject specific software’s: Aspen Hysys, Aspen Energy Analyzer, Aspen Economic Evaluator, MATLAB & Simulink.
