Professional Preparation

Academic and Professional Experiences

Work on two projects funded by the City of Virginia Beach, Department of Public Works: 2018 – 2020

“Assessing the role of urban land use characteristics on stormwater quality”. The task was to provide technical services for runoff quality monitoring for selected urban land uses in Virginia Beach. My Role and Responsibilities:

1. Writing Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) for the project. 2. Installing Auto-samplers, rain gages, and area velocity sensors for multiple land uses. 3. Collecting stormwater samples after each storm event. 4. Analysis water samples in the laboratory to measure pollutants (Phosphorous, Nitrogen and Sediment). 5. Developing a SWMM model for each catchment and calibrating model for hydrology and water quality. 6. Developing a watershed pollutant loads for coastal urban areas.

“Assessing the ability of a retention pond to treat nutrients and sediment”. The task was to provide technical services for water quality monitoring for selected retention pond in Virginia Beach. My Role and Responsibilities:

1. Writing Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) for the project. 2. Installing Auto-samplers, rain gages, and area velocity sensors for the inlets and outlet. 3. Developing a SWMM model for the pond and calibrating the model for hydrology and water quality. Work on a project funded by Clean WateR3 and Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station: 2017– 2018

“Evaluating water quality of storm and irrigation runoff from a container nursery”. The task was to monitor runoff quality for a container nursery.

My Role and Responsibilities:

1. Installing Auto-samplers, rain gages, and flume at the outlet of a production area in that nursery. 2. Collecting irrigation and storm runoff for several events. 3. Analysis water samples in the laboratory to measure pollutants (Phosphorous, Nitrogen and Sediment). 4. Developing a SWMM models for the nursery and calibrating models for hydrology and water quality. Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA 2016– 2020
