Premise Health - Atlantic City, NJ 2018 to Present
Family practice based on medical home model. Focus on preventive medicine for chronic conditions: diabetes, COPD, hyperlipidemia, hypertension. Gynecologic annual exams, dermatologic surgical procedures, and travel medicine are routinely performed
Bristol-Myers Squibb, Primate Quarantine Facility 10/2007 to 7/2015
Working with 300-400 primates daily, I was directly responsible for administering all health care needs with no direct oversight by a veterinarian. I commonly sutured lacerations, administered IV fluids, drew and assessed serial blood chemistries, and adjusted medical orders accordingly. Motivated by my clinical experience and using my teaching and organizational skills, I trained the husbandry staff to give excellent care to these sensitive animals. I used my clinical skills to integrate modern critical care techniques as part of a complete health management plan. I developed a training program that ensured trust between the animals and staff members.
Bristol-Myers Squibb, Section of Experimental Medicine 7/2003 to 10/2007
I was able to exercise all of my nursing skills for all species in this surgery support unit. Anesthesia and analgesia were my specialties within this group that also provided health care to all species in pre-clinical studies.
Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center 12/2002 to 11/2013
As a senior critical care nurse technician for the Emergency Department and the ICU, I focused on working with the latest therapies and newest practitioners of emergency and critical care medicine in this 24-hour intensive care multi-veterinarian practice. I also administered anesthesia and provided post-operative critical care for animals that needed emergency surgery.
GlaxoSmithKline 7/2001 to 7/2003
In this change of career from a clinical setting to a research setting, I provided health care to all
species as well as surgery support, anesthesia support, and post-operative care for animals in pre-clinical research.
Animal Emergency and Critical Care Service 8/1999 to 7/2001
Emergency anesthesia and post-op critical care for extremely sick patients were my specialties
as a senior veterinary nurse, the only certified critical care technician in this 24-hour multi-doctor practice.
Veterinary Hospital University of Pennsylvania 1/1987 to 8/1999
Starting as a rotating nurse on various shifts in the General Wards and ICU, I progressed to a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in the ICU. In this position, I trained veterinary students, interns, residents, and senior clinicians in CPR, neonatal care, ventilator care, central line placement and maintenance, transfusion medicine, ventilator therapy, and every aspect of emergency and critical care as well as lecturing at national meetings on these topics.
