Agile Product Owner.
Staples, Inc. – Santa Clara, CA Aug 2014 – Present
Currently working as an Agile Product Owner for Inventory Planning POD which is one of the 3 pillars under Supply Chain org at a leading Retailer.
As inventory product owner, worked on three major initiatives: EIP (Enterprise Inventory Planner, merchandising platform), AWR (Automated Warehouse Replenishment) and mergers & acquisitions.
Merchandising platform features include forecasting, planning sales and computing complex forecasting math so planners can work with vendors to buy stock for item and financial planning. Achieved savings of 2.5+ million for company by implementing retail Projections feature for EIP tool.
Automated warehouse replenishment system features include mainly minor enhancements and support for business.
Mergers & acquisitions include working with external vendors/orgs to integrate external and internal systems. Savings of 8+ million achieved with system integrations.
Also worked as product owner of RIMS (Retail Inventory Management System), a mobile app for handheld devices in stores used by store associates. Managed 3 cross functional teams required to manage store inventory. Features for mobile app include SKU lookup, cycle count, returns processing and PO receiving. Worked with external vendor for procurement of devices. Rolled out app/devices through entire store chain.
Define product vision, roadmap (multiyear and capability). Collaborate with business stakeholders and end users to gather requirements, convert to user stories and track them to completion.
Used JIRA to write user stories and acceptance criteria. Perform sprint grooming activities, work with scrum engineering team members to groom and split user stories by feature.
Own product backlog, prioritize product features and user stories. As a scrum master, conduct agile ceremonies (daily stand up, sprint planning, sprint retrospective meetings) and coach team members to adopt agile best practices.
Main responsibilities also include eliciting business requirements, working with business to prioritize product and sprint backlog. Perform user acceptance testing for user stories and validate against definition of ‘done’.
Communicate POD status and objectives to business stakeholders and senior leadership weekly and address any issues/reprioritization if required. Represent POD status at weekly scrum of scrum meetings.
Participate in SAFe Quarterly Product Increment (PI) planning events to represent Inventory Planning POD. Work with Release Train Engineer to plan for future quarter by providing team capacity sheets, epic definitions, ASKs for other cross functional teams and stories for the future quarter. Coordinate with product owners from other agile PODs for cross functional team dependencies (ASKs).

Coordinate with client and Accenture teams to update and refine business process models using BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation) in IBM Business Process Manager for eventual automation.
