ACADEMIC PROJECTS
UG Project Title: Manual Stair Climbing Wheelchair sponsored by KSCST, IISc Bangalore
Project description
The main objective of the project is to help the physically challenged persons to “climb the stairs safely and also to move on the ground”.
The main intention of the project is to minimize the cost and reduce the overall weight with maximum safety without using any external power. Wheelchair was a functional model
The project facilitates climbing up and down the stairs by using a “Y” shaped wheel that provides better grip and optimum braking along with a ratchet and a braking system
A “Y” shaped wheel is designed for better grip and optimum braking for climbing up and down
The wheel chair can carry a load of up to 80 kg

PG Project Title: A Study on Mechanical Properties of E-Glass, Jute and Epoxy hybrid composites
Project description
The Goal of the project is to substitute man-made fiber with natural fiber composites to acquire superior properties such as Modulus, Ultimate Stress,Elongation and Ductility
Another examination has been made by blending of Shear Thickening Fluid (STF) to composite and study its effect.
Work demonstrates the strategy to produce E-Glass fiber strengthened alongside Jute fiber with Epoxy.
The composites were manufactured by hand lay – up system. This system permits fabrication of laminates without engaging complicated and expensive tooling.
Compositions with STF will give better Young’s Modulus, Ultimate Stress and Elongation, when compared to compositions Without STF. Ductility of the material increases while brittleness decreases due to addition of STF to composites.
