Career Edge
Trenton, Ontario K8V 3P4
The accompanying resume is in response to the posting on the Jobrapido website. I am pursuing the position of Career Counsellor with Career Edge that will allow me to apply the skills, knowledge and abilities that I have attained throughout my employment and education. I have over two years experience in counselling clients as well as a college diploma in Child and Youth Work as well as a bachelor’s degree in Human Services.
During my employment at Kids First, I worked with families by building on their strengths and providing supports and services based on their needs. I was trained using two types of curriculum, Growing Great Kids (GGK) and Growing Great Families (GGF), that worked interchangeably with families during our visits. The curriculum provided instructional materials, and resources to support and enhance parenting skills and child development. At the Metis Addictions Council of Saskatchewan Inc. (MACSI) I started as a Field Educator than transitioned to an Inpatient Counsellor. I was responsible for managing an eight to ten-client caseload, maintaining scheduled individual counselling sessions, and facilitating structured group workshops. Prior to MACSI, I was employed at the Boys and Girls Club of Niagara for four and half years. During my time at the Boys and Girls Club I was able to implement programming, assist in developing behaviour monitoring strategies for youth, and communicate effectively with the families about their child(ren).
My work background has supplied me with many skills including: being able to communicate effectively, manage my time sensibly, effectively find resources available, and being able to work as part of a team.
It would be a privilege to discuss your Career Counsellor position in more detail. I can be contacted at 905-***-**** or *********@*******.***. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Jamie John
