Cover Letter

Dear Sir/Madam

I am recently married and have permanent residence here in the US and I am looking to continue and further my coaching career here in the Chicagoland area.

I have been coaching soccer for 15 years both in England and the US and been coaching at the very top ‘elite’ level for the last 10 years. I have previously coached at two English professional soccer clubs, Chester FC and then moved on to English Premier League club Manchester United FC. Along the way I have picked up numerous UEFA and FA coaching qualifications of which I have invested lots of time and money to help develop my knowledge and understanding of the game. Being involved at these top clubs I have worked with and learned from many ‘world class’ coaches which has also helped significantly with my development.

Since moving to the US I have worked with U23 mens and women’s teams at two fantastic clubs where I have worked with college players and professional club youth players. This helped me begin to understand the depth of college soccer. I have since had the opportunity to coach at Purdue Northwest University, a D2 school based in Indiana, where I am currently an assistant to a fantastic Head Coach. PNW play in the GLIAC. This experience has helped accelerate my learning of the college game and develop a knowledge of the NCAA rules and regulations. As assistant I have helped with recruitment of players which is vital to a successful program. I have been involved in talent ID camps, scouting of soccer showcases, analyzing video of players that have been sent directly to the college. In my short time with the program we have also been able to recruit a player using my club contacts from back home which is a link I hope I will be able to continue as my career progresses.

I understand that I do not have the years experience at an NCAA college. However I do have experience at the highest level in soccer where I have developed in to a brilliant coach who has more hunger than ever to further my career. I have a great history of developing individuals to create a fantastic team with a winning mentality and a brilliant team spirit. I have always progressed in my coaching and continue to do so as I am currently gaining my USSF coaching badges. I am ready to go to the next step and coach at D1 college level. I see your college as a perfect fit, I am a young hungry coach who wants to build something special in the place I now call home. I am also a big fan of Northwestern and have enjoyed attending many of the college football games, so it would be a big privilege being part of the Northwestern community.
