Project 1: HSBC France Retail Banking Basel Rating System
Role: Associate Data Scientist
Description: HSBC France (HBFR) wants to redesign the Basel Rating System for Retail Banking Wealth Management (RBWM) global market, as number of gaps are identified with the current set of models which were deployed earlier. The rating system was redeveloped in 2016, but the models were never deployed as several issues were identified by the regulatory authorities and internal testing. In addition to the issues raised with the previously developed rating systems, a number of new regulations were published in the last 2 years which the Basel models will need to comply. This project aims to provide the details of the Data Quality Analysis (DQA) to assess usability and fit for purpose of the available data for PD/EAD model building.
Responsibilities:
Collecting data from data sources and portfolio data bases.
Filtering the data based on guidelines provided the management team.
Data understanding, cleaning, preparation and EDA.
Applying statistical method on discreet/continuous variables based on the standard metrics.
Analysing the data with respect to distribution of each of the valid values, total count and percentage of it in the data.
Grid chart for validation of data and Outlier treatment and handling blank values.
The most crucial variables based on WOE. Used WOE method to identify the important variables and impute missing values from the data.
Handling data imbalance.
Fitted logistic regression model on master data (with woe, balanced data).
Fitted random forests model on master data (with woe, balanced data).
Fitted decision tree model on master data (with woe, balanced data).
Final model selection based on highest values of accuracy, sensitivity and specificity.
Environment/Tools: Jupiter notebook, Python (SkLearn, Pandas, NumPy&SciPy, Seaborn, matplotlib)
Project 2: HSBC France (HBFR) - CROSS SELLING& UPSELLING
Role: Associate Data Scientist
Business Objective: Business objective is to identify the customers who are most likely to buy the investment plan and cross-sell to them. We will build a supervised learning model and use EDA (exploratory data analytics) to design a cross-selling strategy. The process of designing a cross-selling strategy involves EDA, modeling, creating and analyzing a cross-sell grid, and assessing the financial benefits of the project.
Responsibilities:
Data understanding, cleaning, preparation.
Identifying important predictors: Conduct EDA to understand and compare the response rate of the groups in each variable (e.g. marital status, number of children).
Analysing the existing products using a cross-sell grid: Determine which customers are displaying a high likelihood to buy an investment plan based on past data.
Model evaluation/validation using k-cross validation techniques. Outlier treatment and handling blank values.
Fitted and predicted the response using a classification model using Logistic regression, Random forests, Decision tree model on master data.
Final model selection based on highest values of accuracy, sensitivity and specificity.
Environment/Tools: Jupiter notebook, Python (SkLearn, Pandas, NumPy&SciPy, Seaborn, matplotlib).
