During my training as Junior Resident in the department, I had the following responsibilities:

First on call for all emergencies during the ward side and short stay duties

Brief screening of patients during the screening OPD and detailed evaluation of patients in detailed work up OPD as well as in-patient care which included history taking, physical examination, risk assessment, use of structured scales, rational use of psychotropics, psychosocial interventions and education of carers

Administration of ECTs and evaluatin of side effects under the supervision of a Senior Resident/Consultant

Daily assessment of in-patients evaluating for risk to self and others, monitoring of side effects and making documentation of same in files

Apart from clinical rotations, there were following sub-speciality postings-OCD, Schizophrenia and Metabolic clinic, Geriatric clinic, Perinatal clinic, De-addiction clinic, Community psychiatry, CLP, Rehabilitation and Neurology

Participation and presentation of case conferences, journal clubs, seminars and workshops

Imparting individual therapy both on IP and OP basis in discussion with therapy supevisor in addition to clinical rotations of behaviour therapy and family therapy

Dissertation work, which included writing of protocol, ethics committee clearance, data collection, analysis of data, literature search and submission
