Projects at Most Recent Employer
Trade Show project:
Designed improved cross-referencing front end for collection of contact information obtained via both the web and at trade shows.
Business Process re-engineering project:
Authorized by owner to do a 3 month preliminary analysis & proposal for using ERP diagrams to build “Process & database relationship blueprints”. The project goals were to diagram, analyze & propose alterations based on ERP diagrams. Used iGrafx “Process” software on Microsoft SQL Server on a virtual server running on Redhat Linux.
Zumasys “PhiReports” project:
Put in charge of proving that Zumasys “PhiReports” reporting software could replace MITS reporting software in a Pick/multivalue environment. Demonstrated feasibility of “PhiReports”, confirming that it could be used to replace MITS.
Phantoms/crontabs project:
A full systems crash happened in November & it was determined that there were over 80 crontabs & Pick “phantoms” that were part of the root cause of the crash. Was tasked with examining & documenting all of these to remove deadwood and streamline.
Zumasys “GUI Designer” project:
Learned to generate no-code/low-code Windows front-end programs using Zumasys “GUI Designer” because the plan that was put in place after the systems crash was to move from 100% on-premises Pick programs to 80% cloud-based Pick programs. Was tasked with the 20% involved in re-design on-premises programs. Programmed new GUI/Windows data display & data entry screens to begin the process of migrating to the new IT infrastructure. Work History Example Projects
ZUMASYS “GUI DESIGNER” & “PHI REPORTS” EXPERIENCE / CASE: 2020 & 2019 - Programmed a new set of GUI/Windows data display & data entry screens to begin the process of migrating older Pick “Green Screen” data display / data entry screens on a mature database system for ACI in Richardson, Texas. There are approximately 180 employees & the database is 26 years old. The current data entry / data presentation layer is “Green Screen” and a custom Delphi Windows code set. The database and the Delphi code was all hand-written and proprietary. It had evolved rather than being designed and this “GUI Designer” / “Phi Reports” projects was the front end of an attempt to migrate to a Windows-based Zumasys solution.
INTERSYSTEMS CACHE EXPERIENCE / CASE:
Programmed a high performance real time algorithmic trading system, using Intersystems Cache's b-tree database. This is a near-real-time pattern recognition engine & event processor that reads streaming data and finds patterns in the data that can be used to make trading decisions. This program can handle real time tick data for 400 high volatility, high volume stocks AND perform pattern recognition in near real time on commercially available Intel based PCs.
ORACLE DATABASE EXPERIENCE / CASE:
Custom integration & programming for building construction company that used high performance forms recognition software, high speed scanners, jukeboxes for DVD archiving & a custom coded Microsoft Access front-end that was integrated via VBA & ODBC to the company’s existing Oracle back- end database. The system employed ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) to eliminate key-punch operators entirely. The images were stored on DVDs in a jukebox that was connected to a local PC that had a custom Access VBA program on it that was used to query and retrieve documents. KEENER MEREDITH

MULTI VALUE / ULTIMATE (R77) PICK DATABASE EXPERIENCE / CASE: Designed, programmed, & managed an oil & gas tax compliance database for a consulting firm specializing in oil & gas tax consulting. Responsible for systems analysis, database design, purchase of hardware & software, programming, code testing, oversight of other programmers, user training, and code support. The database managed over 700,000 properties, coordinating compliance with filing obligations and deadlines for over 1300 property owners.
AS/400 EXPERIENCE / CASE:
Custom integration & programming that used high performance forms recognition software, high speed scanners, a proprietary back-end database, and Microsoft Office Access programming done in VBA. The system used ICR to read data off of appraisal documents & send it to a proprietary database on the client's AS/400. This system allowed data to populate the back-end database without having to be key-punched by data entry operators. The images of the scanned documents were stored on DVDs in a jukebox that was connected to a local PC that had a custom Access VBA program on it that was used to query and retrieve images of the documents. The client was a large professional appraisal firm.
