Topic: Determination of extent of developed Electronic Wetting Front Detector for Scientific and Irrigational Purpose
Description: Electronic Wetting Front Detector is a device that was developed during the B.Tech Project and extended for M.Tech dissertation. The project aims to schedule irrigation of crops grown in field by determining the optimum soil moisture content required present at the root zone depth of the crops. This device measures the volumetric water content using electrical resistance in the soil thus alarming the growers for the required water content through its indicator present in the device. M.Tech dissertation work focuses on calibration and validation of this device through series of testing of the device in laboratory as well as in the farmer's field. Testing of device in laboratory is conducted using calibration of the device with the soil present in a container along with the Tensiometer fixed in the same container of soil and comparing the data with the gravimetric soil moisture content for the accuracy by using regression analysis. Similar testing is also done in the farmer's field so that the device could be validated and it could be used as a standard scientific instrument for scheduling irrigation and replace obsolete scientific instrument. The regression analysis from the data measured was carried out with R2 as 0.967. Field trials are in the process. INTERESTS To establish a challenging career in the field of water resource engineering to work with top leaders in building and developing new ideas and executing research.
